And my character Hunter is a vampire wolf sometimes, but a normal wolf at other times. It all really depends how you draw her. And I didn't copy Hecate. In fact, I had already made the whole vampire wolf thing BEFORE I took a look at her gallery, saw all her awesome art, and figured out her character had fangs. So I'm not a copycat just to say.

I voted yes as well. We shouldn't allow Sparkledogs like the ones with rainbows and neon colors because that's a bit unessecary, but c'mon. My friend Rio's fursona got deactivated for simply having eyes that looked more like a cat's than a dogs, when the design was perfectly natural colored and very creative. Nothing was wrong except for the eyes. I'm starting to think the mod's are going out of their minds and frankly there's not a thing we can do about it cause most of them are hard headed as heck.

First off, yes, I was mentioning YOU because YOU are THE FIRST AND ONLY person to have a GOLD character EVUR.

Second off, stating that you haven't copied Hecate when no one said you did, obviously says you did.

Third off, vampire wolves are not that creative in itself. It'd been done over and over. They're more over done than vampires themselves.

Fourth off, just cuz its a vampire "sometimes" still makes it a mythological being that doesn't fit in the Balto universe.

Fifth off, wolves don't have catlike eyes.

Sixth off, the mods were fine.

1) Thanks a lot for mentioning me when there was NO need to mention me. Plus, if you even knew about the history of the character you'd figure out why I call it gold instead of yellow or "blondish"

2) I was stating it because people have asked me before. Like 'oh did you get that from Hecate?' And also, I was reading the first few posts and how she said everyone else who had done it was a copycat, so I stated I wasn't.

3) I never said they were the most creative, and they aren't overdone more than vampires themselves and if you don't believe me look up the zillions of movies and books and junk about vampires and then search up the stuff about wolves being vampires. Barely anything in comparison.

4) It's only a vampire on DA. Otherwise, she's a normal wolf, therefore fitting into the Balto universe.

5) Actually I never said HAD catlike eyes. I said they LOOKED like catlike eyes.

6) Not all the mods have their heads screwed on completely straight. And if you believe otherwise, steet's words should be proof enough from the recent fan news about the whole controversy.

Up until that news post we'd been trying to keep AS, specifically Balto Source, from becoming pointless as a Balto site and more of a "any wolf or dog" site.

If I owned this site, I can tell you now, I'd shut the whole thing down for a day - revamp the entire set of rules for the entire site - tell all mods that they stick to them or leave - and be done with it all.

Really, it's ridiculous.

Mods doing what they think is right when it's not.
Confusing rules.
Members that baawwwww no matter what any of us do.
A webmaster who doesn't tell his mods or admins exactly what he wants us to do and just tells us off for not mind-reading.

This sparkledog mess being the biggest and best example of that in the history of AS.

Hi, this is Jace, formally known as Rozalyn for anyone who may remember who I was. I am about to present a completely unbiased arguement, and when I am done, you all can have at picking it apart if you wish, but Im just stating the facts.

Ive been reading this arguement for the last 6 pages, and I have to say, this whole arguement just strikes me as rediculous. This isnt about wether or not we should go back to "steet's old way" this is about wether or not people are willing to conform to another persons idea of beauty.

I will say a few things I begin on what I am about to say:

1) I have designed a dog with unnatural colors, and have it on this site. Several people here besides here have done it who are argueing the "conform to balto" debate, including cat, hecate, wicked, and others.

2) I have designed a "brick red" or jenna character. just as many people here have.

3) I have designed a few characters that were fairly sucessful on this site during the time I was an active member here.

The fact is, both of the sides of this arguement are not worth argueing, and as far as Im concerned, your all wrong. The fact is, this IS a balto site, it has balto rules, and should be treated as such. Ive crused the character page 100,000 times, and I can say with absolutee certainty that you can create a charrie with sucess that doesnt involve vomiting a rainbow on paper. period.

To those of you who are arguing that these people "toddle on over to deviantart or furrafinity" you really should take a moment and have some respect to the fact that this little fad was semi-started by some of this sites most popular artists. Many of us here contributed to getting away from painfully balto-like or traditional designs. And whats more the rules did allow it at the time. To take this away from them is in a way a bit wrong, and they have SOME right to be upset.

But for either side to say that "you must be creative this way" or "we can only be unique with this" is an amazing waste of everyone's time. Your not going to bend or sway anyone's way of thinking with this, or change any of the sites practices. You can be creative, and you dont need any special perimeters or unlimited abitility to do it. All you must do is think. Now, coincidences of characters looking alike are going to happen, wether natural or unnatural designs are used. But that doesnt make your character any more or less unique. The key to sucess is effort, not idea. I have seen some of the most absurd designs and colors, plain and "sparkly" become sucesses. You dont need to have free reign in its entirety to do it.

What Im saying is, tradition is creative, and balto source for the moment is asking its character makers to reign it in and fall back to tradition for the time being. Just as at one time it cried for freedom. So for the moment lets all just get back to our roots and give the site what it wants. You never know, you may have fun doing it.
