Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course. And I hope you won't mind me responding to yours, Tibb. I promise not to "nit-pick"... Tibbeh wrote: Just because a lot of people can relate to his "flaws" doesn't mean it was a good choice. It made him really boring to me. I don't like characters that have the same run of the mill flaws. How many characters are out there that have that same "problem"? Too many. It's a matter of perspective I guess. Seems that way for everyone who posted in here. But I must be honest in that I am with those who cannot jibe with the "temperamental" thing some others think would be an interesting character flaw for the fictional version of Balto. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but what IS it with teenagers and young adults since the mid '90s that angst and anger need to be such an elemental part of a "good character"? There are many interesting characters in literature and other forms of entertainment, throughout the centuries, who never displayed negative traits and yet have been lauded for what they are. This angst, anger and dark moody broody thing seems to be a phenomenon more of the last fifteen or so years than even the '60s...or ever. And that, in my opinion, is a bit disturbing (of course, it seems to reflect society as a whole as it has devolved in recent years). Tibbeh wrote: Another thing I really didn't care for about the movie; Jenna. I don't have a problem with the character, but really - does every main character in a movie NEED to have a girl/boyfriend or love interest? That gets pretty old as well. =\ Jenna was pretty much the only reason Balto risked his life. Save the town, get the girl. Well you know my feelings on how the story was twisted, turned and fictionalized in the name of "dramatic license". However, when I view her apart from that, as the character herself, I like Jenna. She's dynamic...and her character changes throughout the trilogy (even if she is very poorly and sparingly used in Wolfquest, and she has that sappy song to sing in Wings of Change). But think about it for a second: when Balto overhears Doc (the Saint Bernard) talking to the other dogs about the fate of the team under Steele's leadership, and he reacts, whose name does he whisper with such concern? That's right, not Jenna's...it's Rosy's. Now, there's no denying that Balto the character is out to impress Jenna and "get the girl", as you say. But I do believe that the character was motivated to help by seeing Rosy suffering--even when he goes to talk to Jenna at the hospital, and meets up with her outside, under a window. When he and Jenna both look into the window, and see Rosy suffering, Balto's expression and demeanor speak to his empathy for Rosy...with whom he has developed a friendship. That's very evident throughout the movie, and in the opening sequences of Wings of Change.

Gang? Gang? Can we please remember that TheGeorgeWolf is not a native English speaker, and therefore his English is not spot-on? Unlike the ding-dongs who smatter SMS and just plain purposefully bad English on here even though they ARE native speakers (whom I have absolutely NO sympathy for), this fellow (?) has an excuse. Perhaps, instead of poking fun at his poor English, you all might help him out. Hmm?

I don't apologize for being rude since I wasn't; and bad english or not in one way or another he said about actually meeting Balto and all the people that posted in response were just saying that it wouldn't be possible, I noticed no real bad behavior towards him.

Maybe he meant that he wanted to see the real Balto? Quote: bad english or not in one way or another he said about actually meeting Balto They sometimes say things differently in other languages. That, or he wasn't sure how to word it.

I wasn't pointing out individuals. However, it is clear that he probably meant something which was entirely rational in his native Spanish. Perhaps he couldn't delineate that clearly in English. You people were a little short with him. Did I say "rude"? No. So I would appreciate you not reading into what was actually said. That is a furtherance of the same problem.

That's very evident throughout the movie, and in the opening sequences of Wings of Change. I agree with a lot of what you said. There is something about Jenna that appeals to me. I often cringe when a good movie features yet another cliched love interest but her character really isn't typical and she's a character that you almost can't help but like. She's not a damsel in distress. She's not a character like Snow White who sings to birds and while good hearted, is basically an airhead who can't do anything to help herself. Jenna is smart, independent and free thinking. She never liked Steele even though everyone else did. She commented that the only way Steele would notice anyone is if they were wearing a mirror, and Dixie asked why she never paid any attention to him early in the film. That shows that she's not after the hero of the town / night in shining armor like almost every other female half of an animated love story. She's independent and she can think for herself. She doesn't go with the group. I also like her because she can defend herself. I really fell in love with her character when she came out of nowhere and attacked the bear. You rarely see that, and it was impressive. Normally I feel like love interests hold the story back (they hold the plot back and they get in the main characters way), but Jenna helped moved the plot along and actually helped the main character out. Very, very true. I thought Jenna did well for the story, for those reasons exactly
