Humphrey had a quizzical look on his face and asked "What are you confused about?"

"Well, you know that knew kind Cody?" Fern asked. "He's just been acting strange around me."

Humphrey shook his head and said "You should stay clear of him Fern. HE is not the kind of person who you want to be around. He's very strange and he'll hurt you if you'll let him."

"You really think so?" Fern asked, conemplating his words. "Hm, maybe you're right."

Humphrey sighed and said "I'm a guy too Fern. Believe me. He WILL hurt you and every friend you have if you let him in and you will regret it before the end. Just stay clear of him. Okay? Promise me that you will do that or at least try."

"Okay, okay," Fern said. "Just stop making it should like all guys are horrible people."

Humphrey smiled mischievously and said sarcastically "Hey. I did NOT say all guys are horrible. I'm a nice guy. You can always go out with me Fern."

"Aw, Humphrey, I would, but you are why too much of a brother to me," Fern teased.

Humphrey chuckled and said jokingly "Can't blame a guy for tryin' though." He leaned towards Fern's ear and whispered lowly "Do you want to know why I warned you to stay clear of him?"

"Yes, of course," Fern said eagerly.

Humphrey looked straight into Fern's eyes and said lowly at the start and got more dramatic as he went on saying what he said "Those cuts that you got were bite marks and claw marks from a wolf. That was no bear. If a bear capable of those injuries did it then you'd be dead right now and not still alive. You healed faster than you should have as well.......a lot faster. That new guy growled at me before you left your first period class as well. I talked to him and told him to stay away from you and he actually growled at me!!!!!!! He sounded like a wolf!!!!!!! He's a monster!!!! I think he might have attacked you!!!! He seemed like a wolf to me. I live with some wolves as pets. You know that. And he acted like one more than a human would ever be capable of. He's a werewolf!!!!! I know he is. I've had the feeling like something was terribly wrong with him and now I know that something IS and if you don't watch yourself then he might finish the job he started and kill you and the rest of your friends, myself included. So please stay clear of him. If not for yourself then for your friends Fern!! PLEASE!!!!"

"Wait. A werewolf?" Fern asked skeptically, trying not to show how she was actually thinking the idea over. Besides, she knew it was a wolf who attacked her, and for Humphrey to guess that she had been lying this whole time was really strange. "I doubt that. I mean, there's kinda far-fetched don't you think? Maybe he's just... wierd." Fern shrugged, still wondering about his werewolf theory and also having a momentary thought of how becoming a werewolf wouldn't be so bad. "But I'll stay away from him if you want me to."

Humphrey chuckled and said seriously "Do whatever you want to but remember what I told you." He started paying attention to the teacher and started doing what the teacher instructed his students to do.

"I'll keep it in mind," Fern said in an airy voice that indicated her thoughts were elsewhere. She began writing what the teacher said, having trouble concentrating all of a sudden.

Humphrey looked at Fern and asked excitedly after the teacher assigned them their lab "Are you ready to start this Fern?"
