After what seemed like hours to the young nurse, all of the puppies were curled against the mother's stomach, sound in health. She wiped away a few beads of persperation with the back of her hand; helping animals always made her happy, yes, but the thought that one wrong move on her part could result in making it worse...well, it made her shoulders sag underneath a metamorphical weight.

Pulling herself away from her dakr thoughts, she gave the Saint Bernard a comforting pat, and then pet the young cat.

Katie smiled and leaped down from the table following the woman into another room.

Kali padded out into the hallway. She had stayed in the room for a while alone, lost in thought. But now she heard Katie in the hallway, and padded out to converse with her...she could only go so long without talking to someone. "Katie!" she called out, her sister's tail disappearing behind a corner.

Katie's ears perked up and she peaked her head back around the corner. She padded across the tiled floor to her sister and sat down infront of her,"What's up Kal?" She smiled and nuzzled her sister.

"Nothing much. We should be leaving soon," Kali said.

Katie's tail flickered back and forth in a swishing motion to her heart beat, "Really? That's awesome! I can't wait to get out of here! Can't wait to get back into my kingdom and live in it with you especially. But, I'll be sad to leave the human that took care of me over this time period of me being in the vet's office." She started to purr softly and a smile crept across her face at the thought of living in the forest. " So, you ready to live in the forest?" She asked her sister.

"Of course!" Kali cried, excitement sending a tingle down her spine. SHe kneaded the ground with her paws, eyes shining.

Kate smiled and followed out the door to the main lobby where the people taking her home were. She was happy when she hit the hardwood floor and she ran for the back door when a little girl came up in front of the screen door and she came screeching to a halt.

The familiar, welcoming scents filtered through Kali's nostrils, and her tail twitched in pleasure. It was good to be home, even temporarily. Surprisingly, she was going to miss this place, dog or not.
