Fen managed to fit inside and looked at the room. He went forward and looked at the mattress on the bed, there was a thin layer of moss and mold on it, he took out his sword and cut the layer of the matress off before carrying the now clean matress to a clean corner of the room, he set it down and looked at the couch. He grabbed a pillow that was stilll clean and put it on the bed. He gently pushed her toward the bed. "You get some rest."

"If I get rest, you do too. You probably need it more than I do anyway," Shay said, her voice firm.

Fen nodded and sat down next to the mattress, letting out a heavy sigh. His back hurt but then so did all of his body, he layed down on the cement and rolled onto his side, his back facing her as well as the matress.

"Don't sleep on the floor!" Shay said. "Sleep on the mattress."

Fen rolled over to look at her. "You. Sleep. On. It." His voice was firm as he rolled back over.

"I don't need to sleep on it right now Fen. You need the rest more than I do," Shay said, her voice just as firm as his.

Fen sighed and moved onto the right side of the matress, he tried to take up the least amount of room and still had his back to her, the wounds on his back from the day's whippings re-opening slightly. His sides soon rose and fell evenly as he fell asleep.

Shay wasn't able to fall asleep. SHe chose to listen to his deep breathing until her eyes finally started to drift shut

Fen woke up and rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand. He looked around and saw Shay asleep next to him and the abondand castle walls surronding them. He got up and made a fire a few feet away and went to get some food. He caught a few rabbits and cooked them and sat by the fire, gazing into the flames that lightened the dark room around them.

Shay awoke to flickering flames that made shadows dance across the walls. Dazed and confused, she sat up blearily, rubbing her blue eyes with a pale hand to clear them. The scent of rabbit hit her nose, and her befuddled brain cleared, the confusion immediatly replaced by hunger. She sat up, propping herself on one hand. She saw Fen leaning over the small flames, cooking a few rabbits. She slid off the mattress, feet landing lightly on the floor. she walked over to Fen and sat beside him.

Fen coughed, turning his head away from her for a secound. "Sorry." he muttered as he looked back at the fire. "You hungrey?" He picked up an rabbit and offered it to her.

Shay took the rabbit, the meat soft and warm in her slim, pale hands. She tore off a small chunk and placed it in her mouth, which was watering from the aroma, and now flavor. "Thank you," she said, her voice soft.

Fen nodded and picked up a rabbit, he looked at the meat, took a bite, and then looked at the fire, the flames making his skin glow, dirt smudged across his face.
