He sighed, "So, wanna talk about something less depressing? Like the daily happenings, how the junkyard is, best places to eat?" Loki listed.

Sadie smiled wider. "Sure. Or we could talk about-" she dropped off, unable to know how to say it. After fliring a little, and him being so clueless about it, how would he understand her feelings?

He perked his ears, "What's wrong?" he said, in a sort of worried tone. He worried about any of his friends. "Don't try and fake it, like there isn't. There is something wrong with you... I can usually sense when my friends are upset, I guess it's sorta like a sixth sense..."

"Nothing's wrong, it's just...you don't get it!" she said. "You dont get any of the obvious hints, all the smiles! Why are boys so clueless?!"

Loki took her comment like a bullet, "Sorry..." was all he said, as he flattened his ears in an almost frightnened pose. "Sorry..." he looked down. "I thought you were just another friend..." he looked her in the eyes though, "A really good friend, who would help me survive being a mutt."

"I am a friend...but, I want to be more than that! I like you, okay?!" she blurted.

"Well, I kinda... maybe..." Loki blushed, "feel the same?" he finished. He padded over to her, "I do too..." he said, quietly.

Sadie relaxed. "You do?" she asked, adopting Loki's quiet tone.

"Yes." he said, quietly, still blushing, "I do. Don't tell the guys though. Ever." Loki made sure she wouldn't.

"I won't." she said, smiling again, her rage subsiding. She nuzzled him gently.

Loki let her nuzzle him, and he started to nuzzle her back, but then he heard a sound, "Uh oh..." he said under his breath. "I think something's out there. I did tell you it was dangerous here... Wonder what it is. Stay put for a minute, and be quiet, maybe it'll go away..."

Sadie broke the contact, stealthily peering out a dirty window.

"Sadie!" Loki whispered, "it may be a rabid dog!" he peered out the window as well, but saw nothing. "Must've gone away. Wonder what it was... Do you want me to check for you?" he smiled, glad to help anyone.

"Wel'll both go," sadie said, nosing the door open.

Loki looked back at her, "No... you wouldn't know where to run if it was a rabid dog..." he sort of growled, as a caution. he slipped past her and into the night, looking around. "Who's there?" he said, softly, "I'm no treat... just come out, and show yourself." he looked around, but there was nothing. Just darkness. He barked a short "Show up, or leave!", and waited a few more minutes, but nothing happened. As he turned back to go inside, he heard another sound, again.
