Once Balto amde sure Dika was obeying him, he pranced back to the line of pups. Than he picked up Buddy bu the scruff of his neck, and carried him over to where Dika was. He reapeted the process with the next pups, Muffin. Then to Smokey. Than to Luke. Than to Copper.

Balto tugged away from his pups, getting up and loooking around. He heard a growling in the distence. His ears tritched and he ran out onto the path that they were taking. He saw a huge brown bear with pierceing red eyes looking down at him.

Luke heard the growling and knew exactly what it was. He looked around quickly and noticed a furry shape in the corner, a skunk. He woke it up, getting all the pups sprayed in the process but he didn't care. He pulled the skunk towards the bear, getting the bear sprayed in the face.

Balto looked around, then he suddenly smelled a gastly smell. He sniffed it in, but then snortred, looking around. His vuiew went to the bear running away, than to a skunk and Luke.

Luke let the skunk go and covered his nose. "Sorry guys." he said to his siblings. "But I had to stop the bear." he said. He looked to dad. "I didn't want to lose you...like I lose...well you know." he said, tears in his eyes other than the ones induced by the stink.
"Its ok Luke." said Copper, keeping her nose tightly covered.
Dika nodded, rubbing her nose on the ground to try to get rid of the stench. "Yeah...PU!" she yelled. "What was that stinky thingy?" she asked, the pups hadn't seen a skunk before.

Balto gasped as Luke did what he did with the skunk, and he smiled happily. He sure did have a barve adopted coyote-dog. He breathed happily, and walked over to Luke. "Good work... son." He said, and layed down on the ground to be eye level with him. He was trying to let Luke get onto his back.
Smokey ran up to Luke, putting his front paws and his ehad down to the ground, and his tail and black legs into the air, doing a bow. "Wow, you really brave Luke!"
Buddy gasped and ran up to Luke. "Yea, what he said!" Buddy said, agreeing with Smokey.
Muffin stood her ground and said, "Wow. He was really breave."

Luke climbed onto Balto's back and buried his nose in his father's fur, the rest of his fur was still wet with musk and it rubbed off in Balto's fur somewhat. "Sorry I got us all stinky papa."
"Papa, what was that stinky thing?" asked Copper, covering her nose with her paw. "And why do we stink now?"

"A.. skunk." He said, perking his head up. "Come on, we better get home so Rosy's parents can give you guys a bath." Balto said, starting to walk up, Buddy, Smokey, and Muffin following.

"Well I don't like skunks, they're really stinky." said Copper, eyes watering from the strong smell as she followed her father.

Balto smiled, but continued to walk strongly without to muc concern fo what was going on aorund gim. Though, once in a while, he did look aorund a bit, to make sure it was safe around him. Soon he and his pups arrived back at his boat, going to tell Jenna what had happened.

"Luke, its gonna be ok. Your mother will understand." Balto explained, as he arrived at the boat. He then started to haead to Nome, where Jenna should be. He walkked at a steady walk, and soon arrived at the house that Jenna lived at. He stopped near the window, and told Luke to get off him. Than he bounced up these barrels stacjked up, and got to a part of the roof wehere he could look into the window to see Jenna.
