She heard the vixen and obeyed, " Alright, let's move out. We have a long day ahead of us if we want to find the caribou." She said and told them to get ready for the big move. She led them to a spot where there weren't caribou, but deer. She started to whisper quietly, " You hungry guys?" She asked and stopped them.

"Ok." She said, " Keep your voices low and wait here." She said and made a bee line for the strongest doe of them all. She then pounced on it's neck and it fought. She got slammed against a tree hurt pretty badly but didn't give up. She pounced on it again this time, killing it. She dragged the meat over to the two limping from her broken leg. She clenched her teeth slightly and collapsed bending her broken leg. She howled in pain.

Mike saw Feather was in some pretty bad pain and immediately was at her side.
"Feather, please don't move. sit still and let me look at your leg."
"Her leg is broken. Looks like a compound fracture. We have to reset your leg."

She clenched her teeth not showing it and smiled at them," But, where will we stay until my leg gets better? We have no den." she said, " unless, you want to dig one for us Helga. Do you? You seem like an expert at it." She smiled

"I may be a fox, but I am no digger. We may have to travel a short way from here. We'll...make you a splint or something."
"Don't give us that vixen. Feather has a broken leg and can't move."
"I must reset her leg. It may be possible if we do so.
She placed her paws on her broken leg.
"This is going to hurt a lot Feather. I'm not trying to cause you pain, though. I'm trying to help you.
Mike nuzzled her gently.
"You ready?"

She looked at the two protesting, " Heck with it. I've been shot in that leg before and it's almost gone numb from that deer, so, I'll be fine thank you." She said and nuzzled her friend.

Helga applied pressure to the leg and began resetting the bone.
Mike held her tight the whole time, feeling her cringe, even though she didn't show it. "Boy this girl is tough" Mike thought to himself.
Helga set her paws back onto the ground.
"It is done. Do you think you can walk on that leg, or do you need a splint?"

She nuzzled him and got up, " I don't know. Let me try." She said standing up. Her leg went limp and she collapsed almost breaking the set Helga put on her leg, " I guess I need a splint. After I get the splint though, I want to talk to Mike alone." She said to Helga.

Helga quickly constructed a splint out of hard sticks and vines. Then she left the two wolves alone.
"So...what did you want to talk about?"

Feather looked at him a little embarrassed but said it anyways, " Um, I don't want to start out with mates because this is to early, but, would you like to be my boyfriend? Because, we know each other pretty well now, and I thought it would be time." She said and smiled nervously.

Mike shuffled awkwardly, then took a deep breath.
"Feather, I would be honored for you to call me your boyfriend, and you my girlfriend. I've been alone all my life. Now I can't imagine my life without you."
He nuzzled her again, feeling her warmth on his cheek.
"We can make it beyond the great mountains. I know we can. It's gonna be wonderful."
