And the way he was able to get the reptiles and in the croc's cage then he would be able to do the same to birds and other little animals too. I didn't notice anything saying it was just reptiles, but depending on when he did it they might have been easiest to catch. I mean, I've caught hundreds of amphibians (I know they're not reptiles, but for these purposes they are similar) by hand, but only a handful of birds (mostly chickens which couldn't fly that far) and just the one mouse my brother and I rescued from our cat. In other words, mammals and birds can be a lot trickier than reptiles.

Also, if the zoo was organized by category of creature, the croc den was probably located near an exhibit featuring smaller reptiles. Crocodiles are reptiles, if I am not mistaken, so that would make perfect sense, no? Yes they are, and yes it does. Good thinking there, that hadn't quite crossed my mind.

This whole thing brings the zoo itself into some blaim, why were security guards there? Shouldn't there be fences too tall for a 7 year old? And most of the reptiles should've been in fully enclosed areas with a key needed to get in, that zoo had lousy secruity for a 7 year old to be able to catch one reptile, let alone feed it to a croc then get more reptiles and feed them to it.

Honestly, I have to agree. Not 100%, but close. You are correct - the zoo should have higher security; but they probably hadn't ever imagined something like this could happen. It just goes to prove the old saying - expect the unexpected; which is exactly what the zoo management should have done in this particular case. I'm sure that the exotic wildlife in that zoo is not cheap, and if they really wanted to properly protect the precious lives of those innocent beings, they should have had higher security on the lookout. The boy and his parents do deserve plenty of blame, though, because if it weren't for the child's obviously disturbed thinking, this never would have happened. And what about their 'beloved' 20 year old goana that was fed to it? If they loved it so much, why didn't they have it better protected? And what scares me most is that if a boy with no idea what he was doing, by that I mean breaking and entering, capturing animals, ect., imagine what an adult planning to do damage could do to this zoo? I understand they weren't expecting this but their security should've made it hard for an adult to pull this off, let alone a little kid.

Even of the zoo did have security cameras (which they probably did), the small 7 year old could -probably- slip right by them without being noticed. True but there is also the fact that all anyone would have to do to avoid it is crouch down. What about the fact there was no lock on the enclosures and the fence around the croc's enclosure was short enough for the boy to drop the reptiles over without setting off an alarm or something? Most Zoos the boy wouldn't of even gotten into the zoo in the first place.

(i had to pay for a 4 acre backyard fence i'm guessing same fence in the snapshots and it's PRICEY)... and the fact that fences at a zoo aren't like 2ft high.. there a pretty good height... -forth... height can vary greatly in generation.. i knew someone who was a 10 yr old who was 5'6 ... which is tall already for that age.. and even weight can vary.... even if you mention the average.. it's just the average.. but some and a lot are either underweight or overweight.. -fifth.. there were security cameras but were only to detect a certain height (cuz who would even expect some little boy doing this.. seriously?!!!!!) lol.. and there were security... people just don't expect things like this happening ... i.e first it's a little boy, 2 there are normally LOTS of people around and that person would have to be an idiot to actually do something in brod day light infront of thousands of people or nearby people... so maybe someone saw the boy but didn't say anything... believe me people don't do all that much these days.. -last... the crocodiles were behind a cement wall.. lol so their not like godzilla and walk over the about 6-7ft wall and there was a key but you'd have to go through a different are.... you should have seen the snapshots or at least read the actual article before you both actually posted something??,....

Where were the guards then? Every zoo I know has nightguards that potrol the zoo at night and this stunt probably took a while to actuelly do, a 7-year-old couldn't carry all those animals at once, he probably had to do it one at a time, you can't tell me the guards wouldn't of seen something if they had the normal number of guards. I'm not saying the parents and the boy aren't to blaim, I'm just saying the zoo isn't completely innocent.

Most security cameras are like Rockandi said. IF in this case they weren't, the secrutity was at fault, reason being, some criminals would scout out the security during the day and if the cameras would only detect an adult, they'd know to duck so they can avoid the camera, same with the motion sensors. And zoos normally have at least one nightguard monitoring each secution of the park and several more watching the cameras.

IF it happened DURING the zoo's opening hours, I would say that would make it even more the Zoo's fault than if it happened at night, security is supposed to be even higher during the day for the visitor's protection. It just said early in the morning, it never said that it was open or not. It also tells us it was 30 minutes, how did no one, and he was in fact caught on secrutity camera, ether report this boy doing this or stop him? If the zoo was open, part of the blaim falls on the other people at the zoo, if it wasn't, the zoo securitity has part of the blaim.
