What I am saying is that we have more than enough moderators on site and in the assigned sections. Those who are unable to come on probably have other things to do and are unable to inform the other mods, including the webmaster himself.
They can't always inform the others of every little thing that keeps them away from the site. A notice beforehand is one thing. Life always intereferes in our online lives. That's just the way it is. Instead of complaining about their not being enough moderators on the site and chewing the inactive mods out is wrong on so many levels.
Bottomline, be glad that there are mods on this site who do their jobs as best as they can. Count your blessings, each and every one of them.
Disagree with me all you want, but that's how I feel. And, on a note, Steet addressed this topic, giving his own words on the 'situation'. I am pleased that the members are concerned about the welfare of the site, but really guys and gals, this is getting a little out of hand, at least to me.
The webmaster has given his opinion. Really, shouldn't that be enough? Now there is only 1 way I feel I can answer this, a plain simple 1 worded answer: No! I'll tell you why: Because in my mind I do feel Steet knows himself there are inactive mods on the site, he did it two months ago... Too me, that is a long time seeing how meany inactive mods there are... Now, lets refer to DTW{AB} He hasn't logged on since 18th June, that to me is very well inactive. Togo, hasn't logged on (Last time I checked last night) since the third, this too me, feels real inactivity from the Moderators of Balto Source. =============================================================================================== Going off the subject: Guys, you know we where talking about Zekee_US well... Yesterday, I saw him logged on, I was just like 'That cant be him!'. But he was only online for like 2 minutes, just to say. And your real point is what exactly? Here's my answer: This whole topic has gotten off track. Steet does know that there are 'inactive' mods but is it really his fault? How many times to any of us have to say until you get it into your heads that the mods have lives and those that are inactive for months at a time probably have their reasons? Do not bash them because of it or ridicule Steet for not doing something about it in the time that you feel he should. That's not right nor is it fair. Now when you say that DTW{AB} hasn't logged in for a while, I think its because there's a reason and that he/she is unable to get onto a computer. Ever think about that? You may think its inactivity, but there could be something else, like a loss of interest or something such as that? Togo is on as often as he can be but he is not always on the ShoutBox. He has other things to do I'm sure, not to mention he's an administrator. He has other things to worry about that what goes on in the SB. He helps Steet manage this site just as much as the rest of us. But, bottomline is, he does come around as do the rest of the mods when we can but we can't that does not give you right to call inactivity. Okay, I've said enough. Technicly Togo is not a full-administrator, he just has administrative rights to the Mod teams. But still, with DTW{AB}, it dosen't matter, to be honest, unless his computer breaks down, or he falls badly sick, or evan un-able to get onto the computer due to family problems, that exeptable, but because the fact that 'There on holiday.' To me, is no excuse, they can go into a Internet Cafe, like I would, and like I have done before, yes maybe he wont be as active as he would if he was at home, BUT, if it is the case, he should be at least coming on every 7 days... For some mods, I'm sure that's not so easy.

Still, unless a Moderator has a good reason exept from things that UK wrote like: UK wrote: Obviously mods have lives, we're only people at a computer too but too many mods just don't do what they're supposed to do and some without telling the rest of the mods, they just don't come on or if they do it's once every now and then.
It's fine if a mod can't get online as normal and makes a quick post in the mod forum or on the mod box saying "sorry guys, I can't get on my comp much atm, xxx is in the way right now, I'll be back on as soon as I can".
Sorry but mods hiding behind "well we're only people, we DO have lives you know" is just not acceptable. I do remember when I was made a mod and one of the 'conditions' was I was active a lot on the site consistently.
I also don't agree that members shouldn't be 'whining' about mod activity. If a member(s) is simply complaining saying "mods are rubbish! ]< I could do it backwards!!" then it's pointless and basically spam and just whining but no one ever said members couldn't take an active interest in the site they enjoy visiting and it's running with the interest of making sure it continues to run.
I don't think it IS a 100% admin and other mods issue, not least with fan sections on the main site, how would we mods KNOW that one particular section isn't updated properly if members don't tell us? If members are concerned they should say so and mods shouldn't get 'defensive' over it as there's no point in that.
Thisto me clears up my point ^^

Perhaps it does. So, can we move past this then?

I've been watching this topic too long and keeping my mouth shut. But I'm done with that. I think there are TOO MANY moderators. By no means are there "not enough" of them. As an ex-moderator myself, I would know. There would be no reason we would need MORE mods. Actually, I think there are a few that should be demoded and have new ones take their places. Ones that will actually live up to the standards and be on to do their job and take it seriously. We need less American mods and more mods in England and over there. That way the "modless gap" wouldn't be so large and some of you members wouldn't have to flip out every time someone comes on and breaks the rules. (All though there IS the report button, which was abused randomly when it was first put up, yes, but still, if there is not a mod on when someone is breaking the rules, instead of trying to take the problem into your own hands, just REPORT THE PERSON. Not all that hard, eh?) Also : Baltorocks123 wrote: But still, with DTW{AB}, it dosen't matter, to be honest, unless his computer breaks down, or he falls badly sick, or evan un-able to get onto the computer due to family problems, that exeptable, but because the fact that 'There on holiday.' ATLEAST The reason Drew is not on as much as usual is because she is moving. Obviously if you are going to be moving, you're not going to want to get on a computer ; cuz you won't be able to. And your priorities are more straightened out. And I think being on holiday is a perfectly good excuse to not be on. When on holiday, you're supposed to be spending time with family, friends, and the lot; not usually waisting time on the internet. Besides, like I said, older members would have more straightened priorities and realise this.

JerseyCaptian: In regards to your post about me, I must say how dare you? Who gave the right to judge me? You do not know me nor do you know how I keep track of this site. I do my job the best I can and yes, there are times when I rise a little bit in temper but I have been trying to keep that down. Here's some advice, don't judge a book by it's cover, but you've already done that it seems. Now when you say 'failed to meet the responsibilites of the position' what in the cosmos do you mean by that? I do meet the responsibilites as do all of the mods on this site. Why would you say such a horrid thing? You think that many of the mods are not up to the challenges? You don't know them either, nor do you see how they mod, me being among them. Who called you the jury or judge of this matter? This whole thing has gotten way out of control and it should be heard to, in other words, for the love of all things, let it die. The staff serves this site as best they can and treats it well. Maybe we do need a few new mods, I don't know but unless something comes up, just forget it for the moment and be happy that there are mods on this site, who do do their jobs and do it to the best of their ability, me being one of them. You say that this is nothing personal? Well, with what you said, now it is personal and I will not back down until you get into your head that Steet has given his opinion. How hard is it to let something like this go? Yes, it is good that the members are voicing their concerns, something I have no quarrel with at all. I would've done the same back when I was a regular member but I never did, mainly since I found no problems.
Besides, this isn't about me. You may think I'm a bad mod, that's your opinion but I am a proud member of this site and I consider my job to be the best and possibly, only job I'll ever have.
Watch what you say and no, this isn't a threat or anything like that. Just a suggestion.
