Hinote ran with him, but she froze in her tracks to hear a wolf's crying howl. There were wolves nearby, and the humans were shooting them.

"Way ahead of you," she replied in agreement, running toward the sounds of the bullets.
One of the wolves ran around the corner as he ran into Hinote. He was only a pup. "My mommy got shot..." he stated in fear, looking back. Hinote frowned as she saw the pup's fear, which was amplified by the flashlight coming around the corner.
Thinking fast, Hinote grabbed the pup and hid with it under a flight of stairs as the people passed.
