Luna glared at Steele. "i don't trsut him, Toby," she growled. "After what he did to my mother, he doesn't deserve trust. However, I agree with you. If we're here, it should be all right." She shok her head and nuzzled Toby. "I just don't want him to hurt them," she whispered. "i thought he was out of our lives a long time ago..."

Luna let out a sigh. "Toby, should we see hwat he wants? I don't want to leave the pups alone but..." She looked at her paws. "I didn't think he could hear the last bit but I'm not sure if I can trust him. Maybe I should go see waht he wants..."

Toby quickly weighed the options. "You'd better stay with the pups," e told her. "I'll go see if a talk to him. Block the door behind me, and don't let anyone in unless I call." Then he slid out the pet door. "Wait," he called. "Steele, hang on a second. I need to talk to you."

Luna nodded. "Okay, Toby." She blocked the door with her body and pressed herself to it, refusing to let anyone in. Can Steele be diffrent? I didn't think it possible but... Man, what should we do?

Toby chose his words carefully. "Steele, I know Luna's a bit tense around you as I am. After all we've seen you do, and try to do, we can't help that. And Luna... well, if you knew all she went through just to have those pups I'm sure you'd see why she's so protective. But we're willing to give you a chance, if you'll take it."

Toby sighed. "Luna went through that alrigh, and a whole lot besides. I guess we can talk about it if she's OK with that. And yes, you can have a second chance. There's a lot of stuff that'll have to be sorted out, but we're willing to give you a second chance." He turned to go back inside, then stopped to look back at the malamute. "But only a second. You mess with these pups, and it's game over." Thinking for a moment, he added, "And I'm going to have to tell my dad you're back in town. No offense, but you are a wanted criminal."

Luna stepped back to let them in. "I was supposed to protect the pups," she replied. She looked at Steele for a moment. "I heard," she muttered. "Uh... I'll give you that second chance as well."

"i'm not sure," said Luna. "With Dad probably." She looked at the pups. "It was. Especially when we thought it could never happen. Though adopting arrow was a wodnerful moment too." She looked around. "Where is she anyway?"

Toby groaned. "I guess I should go look for her then," he muttered, wondering if he would have to remind Steele about the rule on both him and Luna being around, or if Steele would remember on his own.
