Xinal didn't think of the possibility of Vixen not trusting him. Strangely enough, he treated her just as he would any other wolf. He prowled ahead before standing up normally and casually strolling across the area in front of the buffalo, a good five leaps away. He tried to act as if he was not hunting for anything and was just casually moving about.

In an instant the buffalo swung his big head towards Xinal, his eyes and senses trained on the wolf. When he tried to check the surroundings he didn't notice Vixen since he was already preoccupied with the wolf in front of him. After a few moments he kept his eyes and ears on Xinal, the wind blowing Xinal's scent towards the buffalo. Xinal was under a constant surveilance. However, this left the rear unguarded, and in addition to the wind that was blowing from the buffalo towards that direction.

Vixen stalked in the undergrowth, and glanced at the buffalo's position, trying to find a good way to come in at him. Suddenly her instincts took over her mind, and she lunged from the bushes, straight at the buffalo from behind.

Shifting all her wieght to her haunches, she jumped upward and clamped her jaws tightly around the back of the buffalo's neck, and heard a loud crunch as blood hit the ground.

The buffalo jerked suddenly as he felt the bite from another wolf. It tried to move its body but something had happened to him. Then the snap came. Next thing he knew he fell to the ground, still painfully breathing its vision creeping away to darkness as death took him away.

Xinal sprinted over to the Buffalo to help out the moment Vixen leapt out of the bushes and clamped her jaws around the giant beast. By the time he arrived there the buffalo was already dead. "Wow! That was quick! Nice one!" Xinal barked as he started to think. "How are we going to get this home..." Suddenly he remembered Vixen's rabbit. And he dashed off to pick it up. He returned with the rabbit and placed it on top of the buffalo. "Hmm. Do you have any ideas how to get this back? Or do we just call the whole pack here?"

Nyx sighed. Life was starting to grip her tightly. The stress was getting to her. Sighing for the last time, she trotted off into the woods. Only to meet someone she never thought she'd see again... Her Father. Nyx gasped, and stepped back. Her father was abusive, and not only that, he wanted Nyx... he wanted her to bear his kin. Back when, she ran, only to meet up with Xinal and Granger, she soon was accepted by them. Her Dad never showed up for years untill now.

"Nyx... I told you already, you cant get rid of me. I will get you." He said Grinning. He had scars over his body, and a foam oozing from his mouth.

'he's rabid..' she thought, her heart dropped in her gut. He was her father, and though he's hurt her, she doesnt want him to die. He couldnt help the way he was. He was abused in his past, and it scarred him for the worst. She whimpered, and looked into the eyes that were once so very normal. "Come Nyx, Come to daddy."

*flashback*

"Come Nyx, Come to Daddy" he beckoned. "I love you darling. Let me show you how much I love you."

Nyx needed affection, she needed the love a father. "Ive changed..." repeated in her head. Nyx Believed him, and came to him, only to find he had'nt changed at all. He abused her, and took her pride.

*back to reality*

Nyx paused. "im sorry... dad." she teared up, and ran foward, meeting him in a jump. Vicious snarls were heard, and then two loud yelps, one after the other. Nyx's father lay dead, and nyx just layed there, her shoulded bloodied up with a white foam surrounding it. If she was lucky, she wouldnt catch the rabies.... however, that was uncertain to her.

"I...have one idea left. It's gunna sound crazy..." With a flick of her tail, suddenly her claws started flaming, and she set a paw on the buffalo's side.

Under it, flames started licking up, but never burned anything. As she began to walk back towards the pack with a smirk on her face, the flames followed, and the trail disappeared instead of leaving a trail of flickering lights, and didn't even scorch the grass.

She glanced behind her and grinned at Xinal. "heh...how about that?"

Xinal watched in amazement. "Wow. That's something I don't see everyday. I'll scan the area to check just in case any vultures try approaching our prize." Xinal grinned as he led the way back towards the camp ever alert of the skies around them. Then he caught a glimpse of something flitter in the air. He tensed his muscles for a brief moment wondering if that was a vulture.

Vixen rolled her eyes. "Oh please, Xinal! Do you really think they'll get anywhere near it with flames in their sight? Besides, all I gotta do is make the flames burn higher and down will go the bird."

Nyx stood up, her body shaking violently. She was too weak from the battle with her father to focas on anything. Limping to the pack area, she fell down next to the tree where she usually could be found.

Nyx closed her soft dark purple eyes, and rested her head on her paws. She felt hot, and different. There was a battle to be fought. She couldnt get sick, or die now. Daiku needed her and honestly, she needed him and Xinal. They were the ones she thought of the most. Xinal was her best friend, and Daiku was just like her pup. She couldnt leave now. Nyx was sick though, the rabies slowly gripping her body. Every now and then she would shake violently, then it would subside.

Nyx whimpered lightly. "xinal.. daiku." she thought, her eyes welding up with tears. Not only from being upset about the predicament she was in, but also because the sickness made her eyes water.

Xinal nodded and let his fur relax. He trusted the power he could see in the Wind wolf. He tried recalling any of his power, but the emptiness which came with that memory of usage was too much for him to bear. His eyes dulled and watered as he suddenly paused for a moment.

Granger approached the fallen wolf. He observed the battle and was amazed that Nyx won. However she was injured and this would be a liability the moment an assault is mounted, either by them or the enemy. He then padded off after he recognized the dead wolf had sickness in the body. He 'rushed', if he ever did rush, to Nyx at her usual place.

"Good fighting there." He praised, though it was hollow, Nyx as he checked her body and the body of her father. "All you need work on are your evasion and blocks."

He closed his eyes and thought of his knowledge of earth and all that grow on it. A valuable knowledge passed down from previous alphas who had the power over the earth. He opened his eyes again.

"Leave several drops of your saliva here," He ordered as he put a paw over the earth in front of Nyx. The ground under his paw suddenly shifted and turned into fine particules, making it look like a pile of quick sand. A small hollow then appeared in the ground, the size was a tad bit smaller than Granger's own paw. The walls around the tiny hole hardened into something with the properties of clay, able to held a significant amount of water and liquid. He lifted his paw and gestured for her to let some saliva fall in while he left to gather some herbs. "I may need to put you under quarantine while I treat your sickness. If I find that luna wolf, I'll tell her to stay away." He mentioned, not exactly a doctor's kind of tone but more of his usual dictatorship tone.

Nyx was asleep when soft padding pawprints made her lift up. She looked up angrily and viciously even though she didnt realize it. When her mind processed that it was Granger, suddendly she became calm again. Granger was helping her, and giving her advice. Something that she doesnt see everyday.

Nyx listened to Granger with an alertiveness and attention any lower class wolf would give to its alpha. She observed his actions, and then did as she was told, shivering now and then.

Nyx needed to break her fear of talking, so she spoke to Granger. "thank you." She said softly. "Why are you being so kind?" she titled her head. "Its not like you. Atleast... not with me."

Taking a few steps foward she 'Spit' into the bowl like structure, giving off a small, friendly, thankful smile to him.

Granger returned with a small plant in his jaws and shook it to let out some of the seeds it contained. "Eat this. It will calm you and prevent any more violent reactions." He listened as Nyx asked him a question. "I'm just making sure that I have all my force in top shape. Should I lose one, we would lose our current level of efficiency." Granger just glanced around making sure that the everything was quiet before turning back to Nyx. This next part would require his utmost concentration.

If Granger ever noticed the samll smile Nyx gave him, it just bounced off. He continued on with placing his paw over the bowl again. He closed his eyes letting his power concentrate and shift over to the sample.

As the ground covered up the small bowl, Granger could sense the overpowering disease within the saliva. Alright, maybe... all I need to cancel this illness is by making a weakened state of some kind. Maybe, that will give the immune system a chance to see what it's up against. If it knows its opponent, then it can take down an assault. He grinned at the thought. Just like war. his tail wagged a bit as excess energy went of elsewhere. His left paw that kept him standing twitched as some power was creeping away. Willpower... I should not lose focus. He narrowed his eyes staring at the sample. I need to kill this virus... The ground glowed green where the small bowl was located. Then suddenly a flash as a ripple spread out from the ground under Granger.

He opened his eyes once more and lifted his paw gingerly. His legs felt a bit weak under him and his eyes lost focus for a moment. "Done." The ground covering the bowl crept away revealing a silvery liquid inside the bowl. "Try to drink as much as you can. It should help your immune system create a plan to get rid of the disease." Granger turned around and headed back to camp.

Xinal entered the camp and met Granger at the entrance. "Sir, we have caught a buffalo." His voice tried to convey a sense of triumph but it was heavily laden with fatigue.

"Excellent." Granger replied to Xinal. Xinal thought he saw a flash of respect glimmer through the eyes of the alpha but it was gone the instant he saw it. "Nyx, place it there in the center."

Finally a chance to rest! Xinal dipped his head in respect to Granger before he turned to head to the den.

"Before you go..." Xinal flinched as he heard the bark of Granger. What is it now?! He glanced to look back at Granger. Nothing much he can do but follow. "Bring the rabbit lying on top of your catch to Nyx. She needs to gather her strength up." Granger bark was filled with his typical air of indifference as he turned away to meet the rest of the pack.

Sighing, Vixen let the flames die slowly, and before a few seconds they were out, leaving no trace that a fire had been here. She lunged up towards the rabbit and picked it up by the scruff, then turned and tossed it down towards Xinal.

"There. Hopefully for you, this'll be the last thing you do today!" Smiling with understanding of his exhaustion, she jumped down.

Xinal caught the rabbit neatly in his jaws. He glanced back appreciatively. Then his mind recoiled for a moment as he recalled Granger's order. Why would Nyx be weak enough that she can't get her share of the kill? His eyes flashed with worry as he poised to rush off.

"Xinal, one last thing. Make sure she finished up the solution. She needs all the help she can get " Xinal glanced at Granger in surprise. Was this the rare friendly side making an appearance? But before he can confirm Granger added, "and don't get bitten at any cost. I'd hate to have to make another solution for two ill wolves." He grunted back with his usual spite. "Be prepared for the dawn patrol tom as usual."

Xinal dipped his head and rushe doff towards Nyx's tree. What could have happened to her? As he approached the tree, he slowed to a halt. He could see the form of Nyx lying down. Xinal gently approached, the rabbit dangling from his mouth. "Are you feeling alright?" He asked, laying the rabbit down in front of Nyx.

Vixen, now bursting with energy, padded up beside Granger without even caring if he'd snap an angry retort or not.

Her blue eyes gleamed with boredom, and hopes of doing something else. "Anything I can do?" She sighed slightly.
