Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card, Night by Elie Weisel, and Paper Towns and An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. What is this "favorite genre" you speak of?

Luuurve them. I think they just got better as they went. The first one disappointed me a little, Catching Fire I liked very much, and Mockingjay was amazing. I really like the political side. I'm a big fan of politics in books. That's why Order of Phoenix is my favorite of the Harry Potter books. XD

Did I ever forget to mention?

The Vampire Diaries ~ L.J. Smith.
Best.Books.EVER. Honestly, I don't know how she does it... she portrays each character perfectly, managing to please the DamonxElena fans AND the StefanxElena fans all at the same time. It's extremely difficult for someone to do that, and that's just plain amazing. The books are incredibly interesting. I didn't stop reading them throughout the entire series, and let me tell you, better than any book series I've ever read before. This one will ALWAYS be my favorite. <3

My favorite book is Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. The story is described so realistically that it seems to you that you are also now in Australia and watching the events. Every story of the main characters touches the soul and you are sincerely worried about them. It is an engaging story filled with murder and mystery. The idea is very interesting. On the first page you will find out that the murder happened. But throughout the story, you have no idea who is the victim. At the same time, the genre cannot be called a detective story. A fascinating book about relationships.
