JC, in response, I will say 'no' but seriously, we all grow up at some point. When we're little kids and we watch these movies we love so much, there's always gonna be a scene that is on the 'adult' side but when we're young we do not notice them and yet as we grow and we look back at those movies and see those scenes, we realize that back then we didn't care so why should we care now? Our kids, the kids of the future will always be succumbed by these things. Is it bad? No. It is the natural order of things. It is the way of life.

Oh yes, yes, yes... that is very true indeed. It does begin with the parenting, but where oh where does it say that even a cartoon movie can't have just a little bit of adult content? The kids are gonna see it at some point, right.

All in different times. Things change sadly. Nothing is the way it should be, but that's life. We have to embrace it, as hard as it is and teach the kids as well as we can, otherwise... Well, you know what I mean. Things do change. They have to. If things were now the way they were then, how much different do you think the world would be. Things need to change. No matter what you do, things always change. Change is a part of life. Without change, we have no chance of living good lives.

Brown --> That's why it's so important to keep this site kid-friendly. To quote Jennie Whittaker (sp?), "There's a tremendous pressure on children... to grow up too fast. They need a place where they can be children." And I trust there's no need to remind you that it's your job to protect that, not pretend the problem isn't there.

You're quite right. Change is nature- the part that we can influence. And it's everyone's duty to change it for the benefit of our future.

Jersey --> Much as I agree with you, using political references is a risky move here.

I don't think she was referring to the internet.

In most cases, using political references is a risky move. However, JC is referring to it on a factual basis, if I'm not mistaken. He is referring to historical facts.

Anyways, there's a saying that comes, I believe from, Africa. "It takes two to make a child, but it takes a village to raise the child." I'm not sure if that's exactly how it goes, but I do believe it's similar. In the case of American society today, the village, or the influence of the media/other people, is generally not very good comparably to other times. Indeed, with some parents, it is poor parenting. But the fluctuations in society, such as our economy, perhaps make it worse. Some parents are poor parents, but I don't think the entirety of the blame is due to them, as they are working to maintain themselves and are perhaps too tired/unable to tend to the mental/psychological needs of their children. But then on the flip side, it's not entirely the media's fault either, as the parents should help shield them from the content they deem bad.

So it's like the food chain. You take a species out of the mix, there will be problems down the road. And for the case of the world today, both society and parents are required to change what has been done. Having only one or the other change, conceivably will not cut it.

And in a response to the post by Dragon Tamer, the internet is no place for children, in all honesty. Sure, there are children's sites, and parents can take necessary precautions to prevent children from viewing inappropriate material, but there is always the chance of something. It is the internet. As an example of what I just said, take a "E" or "Everyone" rated game, and the parents will think it is a good and clean experience. Which is probably true. However, say that game is online. Just because the game is rated "E" for everyone, is not going to stop someone from typing a certain 4-letter word, or worse. Again, there are good places for children on the internet, but the allowance of children on the internet is a risk by any measure. All in all, the internet is not a safe place for children. I don't believe it has been, and I don't foresee it being safe in the future.

We as members can contribute to keeping this place kid-friendly. I'd say this place as a whole generally does a good job of it, save for some people who feel the need to post such content and battle over why it should be allowed. Which in my opinion is an ill-mannered way of going about it, as it appears as a way of forcing the content onto the site. However though, I don't want to get into that. Most of the stuff on the site is kid-friendly, and the rest appears to be too. There are some problems, however those tend to be unavoidable to an extent. Granted, they could be handled in a quicker and better manner, but with a forum with so many members, teenage members, I might add, the amount of turmoil appears to be low, and rules generally followed. Sure, it could be better. But many things could.

The long and short of it is simple: Regardless of whether there are any "kid-friendly" places in the real world, which there are, it's in the best interests of this site to keep an atmosphere which is wholesome and kid-friendly. I am not saying by any means that we should make every single thing on the site all cuddly-cute, of course. After all, people come here expecting Balto / Lion King Source, not Barney Source. But when stories supposedly dedicated to children's movies get bad enough that parents won't let their kids on the site, which has happened twice already that I know of, we've got a problem and we need to take care of it. We can't just twiddle our thumbs and pretend it's not there, or the site is doomed. It's that simple.

Yes, I agree with your statement. But we can't do much about it other then to remind them that they're breaking rules and hoping that they will put it to heart. But the kid friendly atmosphere that this site needs is important.

Actually, there is a system in place for reporting incidents of problematic behavior. The problem with it is how relaxed the rules are and, even more so, how lax the enforcement of them is.

Tamer, you really have a point there. We cannot ignore this situation, something should be done.

I'm glad you agree. :)
