i'm not freaking out on you, nor am i trying to start a flame war, i'm just saying. ( and no, the forums don't belong to anybody, but still...) I never said anything of the like. I simply said that I do not think TLK is a masterpiece. I don't hate it, but I don't think it's that great either. I'm not 'bashing,' I'm just stating my opinion. And you are welcome to state yours. (Besides, some Balto fans will agree with your thinking that Aleu sucks).

Quote: I really do not see what makes The Lion King such a masterpiece. Maybe I'm too cynical Sure, it has beautiful animation and music, but for me that's it. The characters are memorable, but no more than any other Disney movie. How does that make it seem like she hates the movie? If she hated the movie, she wouldn't say that it had beautiful animation and what not. Quote: Would you like it if us TLK lovers came inot your forum, and started saying " ooo balto sucks, it's a copy of TLK " or " eeewww....Aleu sucks! " Well first of all, I would probably laugh at the "Balto sucks, it's a copy of TLK." because it has -- nothing -- to do with TLK and it's based on a true story. Unless you were talking about Balto 2: WOLF QUEST. If that was the case, I'd agree because I dislike Balto 2: Wolf Quest anyways. And if you said Aleu sucks, I'd agree. Because I don't like Aleu anyways. So... Quote: you think that us TLK lovers want you Balto lovers coming into our fourm What's wrong with Balto lovers coming on your forum? What if the Balto lovers also liked TLK too? So, you're trying to say that if we like Balto, we better not come on the TLK forums.. That sounds quite racism.. Well, not racism. How to say it? Movism? lirl. I don't know.. But seriously, nobody is bashing your TLK movies. You'd get worst "flaming"(which I don't see any Balto fan doing) at school. And plus, what does BALTO have to do with this?

I especially hate their songs, they're all horrible and they're all too babyish, especially the princess ones. I know lots of children when they were young loved the princesses from the Disney movies, and sometimes they wanted to be like them too though. Maybe the songs are childish because most movies produced by Disney are geared toward children. I personally have no grudge against The Lion King. Yeah, it copied some stuff off of Kimba. Yes, Kimba sounds like Simba (but, as someone has already mentioned, Simba = Lion in Swahili). But, the point is, both the movie and the tv show are great in my opinion. Kimba even has a movie (Jungle Emperor Leo). What are you talking about? I seriously don't know why people make such a big deal out of this stuff. If Disney won't admit borrowing some of Kimba's attributes, then no amount of posts made by people on Balto Source will change the mind of one the biggest corporations in the United States. The point is, Kimba and TLK both have a common basis- Hamlet. Perhaps this is why they have so many similarities. What are talking about? Kimba is not based on Hamlet. TLK is based on Hamlet. The plot of the movie of Kimba is way way deffrent thatn the plot of TLK. if you don't beleive me read it:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jungle_Emperor_Leo Perhaps it may not be based completely on Hamlet, yet they share very similar ideas - evil relatives, the protagonist is left without his parents, etc. In Hamlet, the ghost of King Hamlet appears to Prince Hamlet to tell him he must avenge his death. Mufasa appears to Simba in the clouds, and Kimba's father appears to him in the moon, all bearing similar messages. All of the characters 'take their rightful place' so to speak, in their homeland. And, ah, Jungle Emperor Leo is the name of the movie that came out around 1997, not the original Kimba the White Lion series. So, of course, the plotline you read was different, if that was the right link you gave me.

Kimba and The Lion King are both inspired by Bambi, so there's bound to be some similarities. But some are some scenes that are so similar it's hard not to believe that Disney did take some concepts. There's nothing wrong with that - just so long as they give credit to the creator.

I can't be 100 % positive with Kimba, but The Lion King is definitely based off of Hamlet. I believe it's also borrowed a few things from Macbeth as well. http://www.lionking.org/text/Hamlet-TM.html

gah, this looks like flamewar to me. can't everyone be polite to each other? (sorry for being a bit rude, but I've been carefully detaily typing my longggg reply for 45 mins and my computer reseted.I had to redo it and I'm a bit angry, not because of anyone of course )
as a fan of both. I'd say that TLK isn't overrated. the animation's great. the song are great. the plot is great. for me, I haven't seen Kimba, yet. I think that TLK was "inspired" by Kimba. not "copy" I'm a TLK fan and that's not the reason that I disagree.
this topic isn't a bout Balto, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Balto's great. but it's Universal's stupidity that they launched Balto it the same season that Toy Story did. I'm a Balto fan, too. why can't everyone be good to each other? bah, I don't care. I'm so leaving this place.
the sequels? well, TLK2 is great, unlike many sequels. for short, everything is still great.except for the overused plot of "heroes are over protective fathers"
WQ? it sucks. I'm disappointed by it. for short, everything is bad. even the plot is a shameless copy. just a bit worse. (I WAS trying to be polite. my computer won't allow me so, I'm typing as fast as I can. )
TLK1/2 is a mistake. it shoudn't have been made. for short, it ruined the 1st movie.
WOC is slightly better than WQ. the animation's a bit better but not good enough. I love Kodi but I HATE Stella!
PS, the original post was twice as long as this one. with more detail. if I have some more time I'll redo it.

Thats EXACTLY what this feels like to TLK fans. I doubt you would, actually, so that doesn't justify the notion that TLK *might* be overrated.

This is going to start a war, I personaly like Balto better because I knew about it before I knew about the Lion King.
This is hurtful for TLK fans as much as Balto fans. Balto is not overrated and neither is TLK. But I like Balto the best and I always will.
