Well, I guess since everybody else is, I can state my real opinion.
ANY breed of dog can attack anyone, from chihuahua's to cockerspaniels to bloodhounds, ANY! It doesn't matter if it's the sweetest dog in the world, if somebody provokes it, it WILL give them a warning, some may just bare their fangs, some may growl, some may give you a bite on the arm, and SOME may go all the way and attack you, or, even kill you.
The whole time I've lived here (Not Canada, the city I live in), which is my whole life, (14 years) there has NEVER been a pitbull attack, but there has been attacks by Chihuahua's, Rottweilers, (The most common) Samoyeds, Blue heelers, Black Labs, Huskies, (Not pure breds) Golden retrievers, Border collies, Shih tzus, Poodles, (Another of the most common) and German Shepherds. Yep, it's true, NEVER has there been a pitbull attack, or atleast not on the news or in the newspapers.
Even if you've treated your dog nice since you were a puppy, there's still the small chance that it will turn on you, no matter if it's a pitbull, a lab, a chihuahua or a mutt. Dogs do whatever they need to do to survive, and if you provoke it, threaten it, OR hurt it, it CAN and most likely WILL attack you. Some dogs let it go with just a growl for a warning, and stupid people keep provoking it, what would you do if somebody were to pull your hair, poke you, yell at you and kick you, would you sit there? No, you would probably yell at them, but since dogs can't, they growl, bark, yelp or bite. It's in their nature, and, when the dog finally attacks somebody, it's the DOG who gets blamed, "it attacked her for no reason!" People like Aluewolf say, without even knowing the whole story.
Half the time, the only reason pitbulls get blamed is because people don't like them, if a chihuahua were to kill that girl, I can almost guarentee it wouldn't be on the news, they make it seem like it's only pitbulls by avoiding any other breed of dogs to attack, pitbulls and rottweilers, never is there a lab attack on the news, never a poodle, no, not those "innocent" little things.
Aluewolf, get your story straight before you go flaming everybody. Starsky, Balto Wolfdog and Canuck3 are right, they obviously have STUDIED this breed, which a person should do before flaming people.
Your telling us to Practice what we Preach? Do you know what that means? Of course not.
Like All Powerfull Warrior Cat said, do NOT judge pitbulls, or any breed for that matter, if you have never owned one. You can't always believe what you hear on the news, they tend to exagerate a little.
Like I said I don't know how many times, my dog is part pitbull, and like Kari said, she wouldn't hurt a fly, she has never bitten me or ANYBODY, and she hasn't had the best life, if I leave her in my back yard, kids at the park throw rocks at her, they kick the fence, they throw garbage at her and all she does is sit by the fence and wag her tail, she has never growled OR barked at them.
I think I've proved my point.......

Sorry, double post.
Daisy, not all dogs are dangerous, I think what you mean is all dogs CAN be dangerous. It really depends on how it was raised I guess..

Excellent point you made Chasity! I agree 100%
And all dogs are dangerous. It's in their blood. I don't mean any specific dog, I mean breeds. It all depends on how a human trains them. But, no matter how much a human train a dog, they will alwyas be dangerous. As you said, a human wouldn't just sit there is someone was poking you and what-not.

Squee
Balto Wolfdog, I took that test and it took me 6 tries, but only because I thought there was a pitbull on each page, so I clicked all the ones on the first page, then I figured it out... XD
Have any of you ever noticed that if you search "Pitbull" or "Pitbulls" on google images, more then half of them are pitbulls attacking things or pitbulls baring their fangs? It's all part of the plan to give them a bad reputation.

Ah... yes.. finally, people who actually know what they're talking about.
I agree with just about everything people have said after Aluewolf's final post. The 'Pit Bull' isn't actually a registered breed, is it? Isn't it also known as the American Bull Terrier or something? I'm not 100% sure about this.. just asking.
Quote: DO NOT JUDGE THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE OWNED ONE!!!!
Yep, I completely agree with you Warrior Cat. My Aunt owned one and he was lovely, you wouldn't believe that his breed had ever been used for fighting. I used to visit him almost every weekend. He actually had a very heroic story behind him too, it was heart-breaking when my uncle decided to rehome him due to my aunt not having the time to train him properly. He was a wild, hyper children's dog. He was very happy but pretty disobediant when it came to manners. It was best for him to be rehomed really.

That is so bad...pitbulls should be banned even though they don't deserve to be banned!

No, please read the other posts.. they shouldn't be banned, they should just be sold to stronger handlers and caring trainers.

American Pit Bull Terrier, yes.
Oh and thanks for agreeing with me, I apreciate it. XD
Edit: Tss..I wouldn't blame THESE dogs if they attacked their owners..Check this out:
I don't know what the kid was doing, but IMO, that is something that could cause them to attack, and, of course, it's chained up...
What is that on it's neck! It looks extremely painful..
Look at the huge chain on it's neck! That's just plain harsh..No dog needs a chain that big..
And, for you people who think their evil:
Aww!

Here's one to think about- what if there was pitbull in those dog's breed that made it look alittle like a pitbull and act like one?

How would it "act like a pit bull"? All dogs DON'T have the same personality. And none of those dogs even look a LITTLE like pit bulls. There is ALOT of bully breeds, that look like pit bulls.
Look, people, pit bull ARE dogs and dogs don't just go: "Oh, I am going to try and kill that human over there," and attack the human.
Really, how much do I gotta tell you guys? I know MANY pit bulls, who will dare not hurt a fly. Oh yeah, that pit bull must be SOOOO bad. The worst the pit bulls down the street will do to you is lick you all over your face, and get you all wet with licks. xP

That's one of the reason wolf/dogs don't make very good pets, cause they have the wolf in them, so their wild instincts are still there. Pitbulls are the same way.

Pit bulls don't make good pets??? Oh, please. It's been PROVEN that cockers, labs, golden retrievers have HIGHER bite rate!! And it's more likely a lab/cocker or GOLDEN RETRIEVER to bite you more than a pit bull would EVER!
I know MANY pit bulls, that are well trained and by their owners side - While there is a lab out of control, ALWAYS getting out, runs and pulls, untrained and more likely to bite!
Really, research Pit bulls, or just don't reply.
And no, I am not trying to scream, but really - I guess your going to believe we are really aliens, once tv says so. ;O

I think I explained it wrong, but I didn't intend to say pitbulls weren't good pets. I've done enough research on pitbulls, and known a few of them. Pitbulls are more likely to bite you then most other dogs with the same amount of provoking.
And in response to your pre-edit post, it's glad that you're laughing at me, then we can laugh at each other together
