I agree with all the points you made. ^^ I just found a few gramatical errors:

Quote:
- Customers will be more interested in buying the sequels if they own the first Balto. So, releasing the first Balto on DVD will boost the sequels sales too.

There should be a ',' after too reading "... boost the sequels sales, too."

Quote:
- All of the animated classics films now have a special edition DVD, even less popular films; why not Balto?

I'm almost 100% sure that the semicolon ";" should be a long dash "-"

The areas where colons ":" are used, there should not be a space in front of them, but two spaces behind them. (So instead of " Balto is clearly a "sleeper hit" : a film which..." it should look like " Balto is clearly a "sleeper hit": a film which...")

But that's all that I really found. ^^ I know some of these things may have been taught to you differently in France, though. lol.

Well I corrected the things you said except the ":", because, that's true, in France we put spaces at the two sides of it. But can anyone else confirm that it's not the case in american english? I can change this.

- The current DVD release does not respect the film in any way : the cover is not appealing at all (such a cheap cover can even turn out people by thinking it's not the "true" Balto film), there is no real extras (where are the deleted scenes? the commentaries? things that BOTH kids and adults like...) As a reference, the cover for the VHS versions and the theatrical release was much better.

Where it says, "there is no real extras" I believe it should be, "there ARE no real extras." "Is" would be used for singular words, and "are" should be used for plural words, like in this case: extras.

- Balto fits very well your current brand of franchises you're currently developing : a simple and clean film for the whole family.

In this section, it should say, "Balto fits very well WITH THE current brand..." Just add in the word "with" and replace "your" with "the".
Anyways, I think this looks pretty good. I hope it works out well.

In continuation to my post about my cousin wanting Balto:

I can't find it anywhere. Not in the shops at least. It's too risky ordering online now - it won't come in time for christmas. And CarribeanLady, I got mine from amazon.co.uk but, as said, she's too young to create an account. She doesn't have a credit card. Thanks anyway though.

Anyway, I looked for it at all of the good DVD stores from HMV to Virgin Megastore.. no where. They've got all the other old films such as Fluke, White Fang, Secret of Nimh at that kind of thing - but no Balto. I did, however, find Balto 3 at Virgin - £9.99. Didn't get it since she hasn't the original.

Let's say, I was very disappointed. I'm all for this petition!

I've written the petition, and it is online.
IT'S NOT OPEN YET!!! So you can't sign yet, this is only for previewing.

I can still make changes, so tell me if there's anything you don't agree or any spelling mistakes.

- A good cover (Seriously, how can they imagine the Balto dvd selling well with such an horrible cover on it? It nearly makes the film look like a cheap 1€ dvd.)
- Good content (real extras such as deleted scenes, commentaries...)
- Widescreen format (most TVs sold now are widescreen, this is both the future and the original aspect ratio of the film)
- Improved picture quality (if possible)
- As much advertisement as possible...If they don't advertise it, then I know it would be useless except for fans, because it wouldn't sell. A franchise like Balto REALLY need some advertisement, but has a great potential.

Well done Steet! We can't give up on Balto yet, and creating this petition is a great idea! I really have faith in this :) And your points are 100% right. The Balto cover does look like it would cost £1 (or whatever money your country has, dollars, euros...) and they need a better one. The original VHS cover is the poster and looks great, the could just use that and it would look wonderful.

Good content - yes, it needs all this. My DVD does have about an hour long documentary and is actually quite good, but more could be added and it would be great, along with original Balto trailers.

Widescreen format?
I don't think that matters really, but it would be a nice choice. As long as they have another choice.

Improved picture quality, well, I think the Balto DVD quality is actually pretty good and there isn't much to improve. It is stunning animation, clear and perfect. There doesn't really need to be any change.

Advertisement, yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Very important to have it advertised. A TV trailer would do the job well, with clips from the movie and what is in the special DVD. Advertising it is very important! Other wise nobody would know about it, and what good would that be?

Steet, I am with you all the way! I want to help Balto as much as anyone here, and as a true Balto fan I am here to help you achive the goal. Fingers crossed for this petition! I can't wait to see how it ends ;)

The text petition is already online, but it's a bit different from the text I had written before and that you commented.

If you do have the commentary (which is not 1h but more 20min if I recall well), then you also have the widescreen format version. But I still don't understand why people can't get that : full screen CUTS the original image of the films, so that you won't be able to see many parts of the original picture with full screen / span and scan. (almost 1/3 of the picture!!) So, no, sorry, it really matters. Not even mentionning that widescreen is the future format for ALL the TV sets. (high definition formats are only widescreen)

I'm not talking about the film animation of course, which is awesome, but the picture itself : it is very grainy, which means they have not applied any filter to improve it. The film would look even better if they did.
