Mr. Simpson issued the command to halt, right in front of the two men. He smiled and waved one hand.


One man stepped up as soon as it was safe. "Welcome, Mr. Simpson is it?" he asked, extending a hand, which the musher shook.


Tai smiled and barked out sweetly, looking about her. "We're here, and right on schedule!"

"You can let your dogs off if you like," said the man "It's not wise to travel right now...you still have plenty of time."



"I'm just glad we can help Katie and the others..." Jenna said, looking a bit upset. "I'd hate to think about what Nome would be like without any of those dogs."


Cain snorted and began to walk. "Probably."

Kai blinked, looking at his brother. "Cachen? What is it?"


Goldie's head was going back and forth, and she held something in her mouth. A gunshot was fired, and she ran, fast. Someone who seemed to be a butcher followed in tow, yelling curses at her.


Jenna looked up as the gunshot was fired and she saw Goldie running form the butcher. She seemed shaken.


Mr. Simpson began to detach the dogs from their harnesses.

"Will you come with me Kai?" asked Cachen, cocking his head.

"I know, but as much as I hate to admit it, Balto deserved it more than me." said Steele. "I'm not stupid, I know I only wanted the fame, nothing else mattered, he did it for the kids...ironic that in trying to get fame, I lost all the fame I did have." he said. Steele was still angry at Balto, but it wasn't because he felt cheated, he knew they both got what they deserved, he was mad out of pure jealiousy, that HE wanted to be loved again.

OOC: figured Steele would've had a lot of time to reflect on what happened to him.

"No, he hit me with a knife." said Balto, moving the fur on his shoulder to show a scar. "But I've had some shots fired at me."

"I feel sorry for strays..." said Lena. "They don't deserve to be treated that way."

Kai nodded. "But I'm hiding...I'm not going to be out there standing next to you. Now come on!"


Tai's head ached, she sat down, and looked tired. She panted form the pain. She sensed Steele's negative emoiton, and it hurt her.

Cain smirked. "Old man, let it go..." he said, knowing full well what jealousy and hate had done to his Father. And he was just like that.

OOC: I think so too, Steele wasn't a stupid dog.


Jenna looked, shocked. She looked up. "And you didn't think I'd like to know?' she said, concerned. She knew nothing was recent, but it did scare her.



Kodi nodded. "And remember, Lena, your grandpa was like that he's a stray too." he said, remembering all the stories he heard from dogs and Balto himself. Kodi shivered.
