Hiro looked at Michigan. "You guys are sick," he muttered.

Fen nudged him. "Lighten up," he said.

Michigan rolled her eyes, unseen through the can.

Fenris had knocked over a can, and was now digging through it, somewhat noisily.
"Shhh!" Both Flint and Al silenced him.
Fenris flattened his ear a little, "Sorry..."

Hiro flattened his ears, the fur on his neck rising slightly. "Guys," he said, nervousness creeping into his normally sarcastic voice. "I smell humans. And I hear 'em too." Being in a town, surrounded and fenced in by houses, was bad enough, but humans too close was a nightmare. He stepped back into the shadows, fur ruffled, eyes nervous, flicking back and forth.


Fen almost shook it off as a joke, but one look at Hiro changed his mind. "I think humans are close by too." He spoke before he even scented the air, trusting his friend to be correct. When the sentence ended, his nose twitched as he inhaled, lifting it high to catch scents better. His ear's pricked, and he heard soft foot-steps. But strangely, they sounded slow and unsteady, nothing like a regular man's footsteps. And the smell of milk almost masked the human scent. He cocked his head, confused.

A small child, looking around three, walked in unsteadily, his tear-streaked face anxious and sad. "Momma?" The high tones of the child's voice cut through the air. Her gaze fell on the canine's gathered, and she smiled a little. "Doggie," she pointed, walking towards Abby with cautious steps.

"It's a human pup," Hiro said, puzzled and amazed. "What's it doing away from it's mother?"

The child reached out a small hand towards Abby, and used her for support to stand. "Doggie," she repeated.

"I think we should take care of it. Bring it back to Sadie and Loki. I bet they'd know what to do with her," Fen said.

Hiro started to wrinkle his nose, but one look at the young pup changed his mind. It was actually quite cute, and he padded a step closer to it.

Abby licked the pup's face. "Heh. Yeah, my brother would know what to do with him. We'll have to head back now. Grab some food."
Michigan grabbed some food out of the garbage.

"Alright boys, I think we have enough food!" Al boomed from the alley they were in. "We can start to head back now, mmkay?"

Loki was awoken by his sister poking him with her muzzle. Then he smelled human, "What?!" he asked as he woke up. "Where are the humans?"

Sadie had woken up as Abby padded in, and her sleepy eyes focused on the human pup. "Only one human, Lo. And it's a pup, I think it might've gotten lost from it's mother or something." She stood up, padding over to the small child.

The toddler shied away from Sadie, attatched now to Abby, thinking of her as a temporary mother. She dug small fingers into her fur, and le loose a small cry, burying her face in Abby's pelt.

Abby licked the pups head, "It's ok, pup. Sadie is a friend." she woofed at Sadie.
Loki pdded over to the pup. He sniffed it, "Fine, but only since it's a pup." he ,muterred.

The toddler lifted his head at the wet touch of Abby's tongue, smiling a little. She looked around, seeming to remember what she was looking for. "Where Momma?"

Abby shrugged.
Loki watched the pup carefully. He sniffed the pup again.

"Where Momma?" she repeated, quickly getting sad again. Tears started to form in her eyes, and one made a trail down her slightly dirty cheeks.

"Maybe we should take her to the perosn who helped you Loki. Maybe she could find her mother," Sadie suggested.

"Oh. First thing tomorrow morning? Abby will have to come," he said, noting the child's closeness to her.
Abby nodded sloly, "Ok. What should we feed her though?" she questioned.
"Umm, I don't know..." Loki answered.

"It's only one night. It doens't need food," Hiro said, rolling his eyes.

"We'll find something," Sadie said, ignoring the irritable young wolf.

"She's not an IT!" Abby snapped, her motherly instincts somewhat kicking in, "She may not have eaten for a while. Why don't we let her eat YOUR food instead, tonight?!"
The rest of the canines had arrvied by now
"Who's tis?" Flint asked, gesturing to the child, with his head cocked.
"Pbviously, it's a human." Fenris stated."Obviously, I KNEW that." Flnt said, in the same, "duh" tone.

"You know what, that's a good idea. Hiro can share his food with her," Sadie said firmly.

Hiro opened his mouth to argue, outrage in his eyes, but something in Sadie's gaze made him stop. "Fine," he muttered.
