At the sound of her father's name, Mara rushed out and stood beside Winter. "Daddy?"
Sunset stared at Midnight in disbelief. "'Daddy?'"
Midnight stopped growling and looked at all the wolves. He turned tail and ran away from them all as fast as he could.

Winterfall stared. "Midnight! Midnight, hold up! You're running from your daughter you-" He pelted after him, yelling over hsi shoulder, "Don't worry Mara, I'll get your dad!" He raced as fast as his paws would allow and, for the first time, was glad he had experianced what he had. Growing up alone, had allowed him to become fast. He leapt at Midngiht and pinned him. "Do you know how upset your daughter and mate were when they thought you were dead?" he snarled. "Now you ran from tehm without a backwards glance, you coward!"

"Get of me!" Midnight may not have been as fast, but he was just a little stronger than Winter. He was able to knock Winterfall to the side and run off again.
Sunset looked at Mara in confusion. "Daughter?" she asked the pup.
Mara nodded in silence. To stund to notice Sunset much at all.

All teh anger that Winterfall had been holding broke. "You selfish coward! That's your daughter! That's your daughter!" He didn't know how long he yelled that sentence after him but it was long enough for Winterfall to break down. He lay in the snow, tears rolling down his face. He felt horrible for MAra and Flower but very bad for MAra. He knew what it was like ot have a parent who didn't care except his was worse. Finally he stood. "That's you daughter!" he yelled again. Then he turned nad padded tot eh others. He looked at Mara sadly. "I'm sorry," he whsipered. "I lost him."

Tears began falling from Mara eyes. She nuzzled into Winter's chest from comfort.
"Lost?" Sunset ran back to the place Winter had come from. "Midnight? Where are you?" she called.
Midnight heard Sunset calling his name and stopped to wait for her to catch up.

Winterfall glared after Susnet. "i hope you're happy with yourself! You just stole someone's dad!" He hoped he made her feel bad enough to bring him back. He nuzzled Mara to comfort her. "I'm so sorry, Mara. I should have caught him. I was faste nough but he was stronger.... But I had him!" He was so frustrated with himself.

"It's okay," Mara said, even though it wasn't.
Sunset caught up with Midnight. "Is what that wolf said true? Did you have a mate and pup and not go back?"
Midnight nodded but didn't look her in the eye.

Winterfall fought back tears of frustration and sadness for the pup and her mother. "No it's not. You deserve a father. Mara, I don't know about being a dad figure, but I'll try to be alike a brother if you want."

"But why?" Sunset asked. "Don't you love them anymore?"
"Of course I do!" Midnight snapped. He then sighed. "Just not as much as I used to."
