Bethany squeaked when she was knocked to the grow. She frown and then started gathering her things, only to see the boy from earlier helping her with her things.

"Thank you." She said, shouldering her backpack and pressing her notebook to her chest.

Nate gave her a polite nod And said with a smile "No problem, it was kinda my fault. Sorry about that." he apologized And handed her, her things, before he turned and started off the bus, grabbing his journal and back-pack.

Bethany nodded ans got off the bus as well.

The day droned on slowly, Nate hated school with a passion and wished he could be free again. He wished things where as they use to be, he missed being a small time criminal and helping 'Ghost' with his missions. Atticus had given up his alter ego however. But the legend of Ghost still lived on. Finally seventh period came around, it was his elective Music/Art. He happened to have this class with Beth (if that's okay), along with his bestfriend, 'Scooter'. Plus, this was the only class with a teacher who actually liked Nate. She was a strange, slightly psychotic woman named Ms. Hamblin. But Nate thought she was cool.

Bethany's day snapped by, but left her drained. She'd had 2 tests and 3 pop quizzes, and she was happy to be in her elective. She sat at a back table, focusing on a sketch, trying to put 'life' into the eyes' that she was drawing. Her sketch was a small dog, some sort of terrier mix, and looked better than most people high school senior's work. She loved art, but usually had to focus on simple academics.

"Ms. Hamblin!!" Nate grinned jogging into class, a tall wiry boy, with army style hair, which was longer ontop than it was on the sides, his bangs reached his eyebrows, and he had a brown goatee. He followed Nate.

The teacher, a short, sandy blonde woman chuckled to herself and looked over at the boy from her computer, "Hello Nate darling." the teacher laughed. "Hi Scooter..." he muttered the last part.

"Hey Ms. H!" Scooter drawed in a Texas accent.

Nate went over to the keyboard piano and started playing around, as he did every day.

"Nathan! Go sit down! You'll break something!" Ms. Hamblin snapped.

"C'mon Ms. H, lemme play a song!"

Ms. Hamblin glared at him but he started masterfully playing 'It Will Rain' on the keyboard. He grinned and looked up, noticing Beth he couldn't help but stare at her, and that caused the tune to falter, and he class laughed.

Bethany paid no attention to him, but rather focused on her drawing. When it was complete, she flipped open her notebook and glued the picture in. Bethany quickly tucked the picture away as class started and paid attention to Ms. H. She ambled over to a violin and started messing with it. She had been playing since she was 5. She played a few chords elegantly, unknowing drawing the attention of the class to herself. She began playing 'Wake up' by Arcade Fire, a song meant for piano mostly, but sounding extravagant on the violin. When the entire room went silent she stopped, wondering what had made them all go so quiet, then realized it was her own doing. She blushed furiously and hid behind her hair.

"Ms. H, can I-"

"-No Scooter, you're not touching the drums." Ms. Hamblin sighed, she looked at Bethany. "That was wonderful Beth, Honey." the woman praised, before looking back at her class. "Alright guys, on this assignment I will assign you partners-"

"No worries, Ms. H, me and Scooter-"

"Nate..." she chuckled, walking over and patting his head. "Darling... Assign, means I pick your partners..." the class began laughing at that, and Nate rolled his eyes. "You're with Beth."

"What?!" Nate yelped looking at her.

"You're both on the same experience level, just with different instruments."

"But she doesn't like me!"

She ignored him and looked th Beth, "Honey, you're paired with Nathan." she said from across the room, "I'm sorry, but you're the most experienced musicians in the class."

As much as Bethany didn't like the popular kids, she couldn't help but blush even harder. For a moment she thought about saying something like 'I don't hate you.' But that wasn't like Bethany, she was slightly awkward when it came to being social. Bethany tried to stop the heat that flooded to her cheeks as Ms. H sashayed away, leaving her and Nate to their own devises. She wondered for a moment if she could speak up first, then decided that it would probably be best, considering Nate looked like he wasn't pleased about being paired with her.

"Uhm...you wanna work on a song? What music do you listen too? We could uh- figure out a song that we both know and uh- play it?" She sounded pathetic, saying 'uh' every other word. But Bethany couldn't fight how nervous she was to be talking to him. What if later on, he gawked to his friends about how big of a dork she was? What if she became the center of attention? The thought made her uneasy.

Nate watched her curiously, being a 'master theif' as he had once called himself. He couldn't help but notice various little things. Like how rosey her cheeks where. He also noticed, that she was quite pretty. He had never really paid much mind to Beth, until now that is. He was still under the impression that she wasn't very keen of him. Still, something's didn't add up. Like her blush and how she said 'uh' every-other breath. When she asked what kind of music he listened to, his reply was: "Actually, I listen to pretty much everything, I'm good with any genre." he assured.

"Nate, you're such a bad liar!" Ms. Hamblin sighed, walking over to the two teens, a guitar in hand. She had seen the awkward conversation and had the solution.

"What?" Nate asked, looking up at her.

"Honey..." the teacher began, laying the guitar in Nate's lap and looking at Beth. "... You don't know how lucky you are. This sweet little guy right here!" she said, patting Nate's head. "Give him a guitar and he can sing, sings so good you'll wanna cry!"

"What?!" Nate repeated.

"C'mon darling, It Will Rain. ASAP!" 

Nate gave her a look of sheer embarrassment, but with a heavy sigh he began to strum the song, and soon he was singing. 

"If you ever leave me baby... Leave some morphine at my door!... Cause it'll take a whole lot of medication, to realize what we use to have we don't, have it anymore!... There's no religion that can save me, no matter how long my knees are on the flooor!... So keep in mind all the sacrifices I'm makin', to keep you by my side, and keep you from walkin' out the door!..." he glanced at Beth and smiled before he continued, strumming quickly to keep up with the chorus. "Cause they'll be no sunlight, if I lose you baby! They'll be no clear skies, if I lose you baby! Just like the clouds my eyes will do the same, if you walk away... Every day it'll rain... Rain... Rai-a-a-ain!",  he hummed the next little bit and continued strumming, earning a smile from ms Hamblin. Bethany's jaw clenched, the blush deepening on her face. But mostly just because she was nervous, he sang very well. When he was finished, Bethany smiled a little and nodded her approval. She hated her singing voice, though she'd been told she was pretty good.

"You're really talented." She mused, her voice up beat.

"Thanks." he said watching Ms. Hamblin walk away. He looked back at Bethany and noticed the dark blush on her face, but he didn't say anything about it. "So, do you have a song in mind?' he asked.

"How about Black and Gold?" She raised her violin to her chin and began harmonizing her her own quiet voice. "If the fish swam out of the ocean, grew legs and they started walking. If the apes climbed down from the trees, grew tall and they started talking..." She paused and looked at him, waiting for approval to progress.

Nate listened quietly then he grinned and started strumming the tune, in a way that it would sound good with the violin.

Ms. Hamblin watched them quietly, a smirk on her face.

"And the stars fell out of the sky, and my tears rolled into the ocean, now I'm looking for a reason why, you even set my world into motion. Because if you're not really here, then the stars don't even matter. And I'm filled to the top with fear, that it's all just a bunch of matter.." Bethany sand softly.
