A few tears ran down Katie's face. "He has their pelts...Balto, he..." she gulped, pain in her chest. "My mother's pelt, and yours..."

Balto looked down, seeming in a trance.
He was playing with another pup, a pure white wolf pup, his sister. He heard a gun cocking and a shut was fired, but Aniu jumpped in the way, a shotgun shell tearing into her back. "Momma!" he yelled.
"My children...run...I beg you." she commanded, turning with what strength she had remaining and attacking her murderer.
A tear ran down Balto's face. "She...sacrificed herself...to save me...and...I have a sister..."
"You're the best son-in-law I could ask for, I promise you." said Lenatei. "I love you like my own son."

Katie gently licked Balto's cheek, her eyes sad. But, she msiled. "She loves you very much..." she whispered, laying her head down in the snow. "She doesn't regret what happened."
Kodi smiled a bit wider, nodding. Now, he was just at a loss for words.

Kodi nodded, setting his jaw as he looked at Katie- she looked so tired, and weak. "What did he do to her?" he asked, serious.

Lenatei sighed. "You're more like Bashkei than I thought and you're not even biologically related to him." she said. She put her paw on his forehead, showing him what happened.

Kodi's eyes widened and he tore away form the paw, looking shocked and terrified. "THAT?!" he said, ears pushed back. "He did that to her?!"

Lenatei nodded. "The man is a sadistic psychopath...and he knows it!" she said. "Seriously! He told us that!"

Katie smiled lightly, ears pinned back. "A pelt," she said, her smile fading. "Is an animal's fur...after a human skins it..." she shuddered, resting her head against her paws. "It's a terrible thing, really." she murmurs to herself, shuddering again.
Kodi tried his best not to become angry, but found himself growing madder and madder.

Cachen gasped. "He did that...to...grandma?...Both of them?" he asked, eyes tearing up.
"My son-in-law, I know you're angry, so am I." said Lenatei. "But Mako is more dangerious than I'm able to say. He's not just psychopathic, there's something else about him...something I can't discribe...like he's human...but he's not. At the same time."
