Ellis' face twisted into a growl. "She could've killed Tara!" he screamed at Dymitri.
"And whose fault was that?" Carmen snapped at Ellis.
"Yours!"
Tara finally got the strength to hug Chase back, and she felt her breathing steady.

"That's real mature." Carmen pointed out, narrowing her eyes.
Kyler sat with her legs bent to the side and rested Damien's head against her lap. She lightly stroked his hair, listening to the others argue.
Tara hugged Chase tighter and asked, "What happened?"

"He did?" Tara asked disbelievingly. She looked over at Damien, who was still unconscious. "Is he gonna be okay?"

Ellis nodded at the ground and ran his fingers through his hair. "I'll let you think that." he said with a laugh, "But I think judging ourselves is biased, don't you think?" He turned around. "Tara, who's sexier? Me or Dymitri?"
Tara looked around, wide-eyed and surprised at the sudden question. "...I'm only seven..." she said quietly, leaning into Chase.
