frankly, I think a Mod has to have some sort of sensible judgement in order to even get a spot as a Mod in the first place. If they didn't, forum pages like this one wouldn't even have been suggested to the big Admin steet.
I must also say, speaking as a Mod of a forum myself, that we use our moderation powers for the good of the forum. Not for the benefit of ourselves.

Very logical, silver_balto. Very good. Mods SHOULD never do anything for their own benefit (which adversely affects other members, that is). Or even for their friends who are on here. And that HAS happened here in the past.

that is all too correct B-Seppala (<<too lazy to write full thing), any mod who uses their power to benefit anything beside the well-being of the forum isn't a good mod.
That is an unwritten rule for all mods, good or bad.

In all truth, you are one of the best mods on the site. No worries with you, Black Shimmer. I've NEVER heard or seen any criticism about you...

Alright, apparently, Zerg, you have no idea what you're talking about. Like Steet said, hardly anyone is agreeing with you because you have nothing to back up what you said. That's what you need. Evidence.
Want to see something ironic? viewtopic.php?t=6081
Think about it. What would happen if the mods just let everything slide and didn't lock any topics? The whole forum would erupt into conversations about sex, drugs...etc. None of us want that, especially if this is a Balto-based forum. Little children don't want to talk about those kinds of things, and their parents certainly don't want their children to be on that kind of site.
So, you were saying?

Dang. How did I miss THAT topic? But that's another good point, Kari. Man...Dingo did right by locking that one. And as Steet said here, such a topic doesn't belong on this site. It doesn't mean people hate gays...it does mean that this forum is not a place to discuss such issues. And that is certainly not a topic for KIDS.

Well, look...it is just as possible to exert TOO heavy a hand with moderating duties as it is to not take enough of a role. It's a balancing act. And, truthfully, there are global mods (from what I have seen myself, and from what I have seen others say) who are guilty of either.

I have nothing against homosexuals at all, heck, some of my friends are. But, like someone else said in that topic (a little too rudely, if I may add...) it's definately not a topic for the little children of this forum. People rarely consider the younger people anymore, and just post topics that they want to talk about. It's more logical to ask yourself if a younger person (around 7-10 years) would be able to read, understand, and not be offended by whatever you're posting. Psst...I still am. XP

What's that all about? This board is FOR this kind of discussion. No one's gonna work out anything so long as there are people who say things like that.

Look, I respect that. And I have nothing at all against you dude. It's cool. But if it doesn't move this particular discussion forward, then what's the point? You only trigger comments like mine (or worse). No one, that I've seen, has yet "beat a dead horse" here.
