Jot's eyes twitched as he stared at the old, wrinkly lion (Mahiri the rogue) . . . he didn't notice at all the sand flying up to about a foot in the air, not far behind him. So he didn't notice it stop either. I (the Creep) was for now undetected.

'Good morning, dear!' exclaimed Obbler. 'Just going for a walk, to get some water. I'll be back soon.'

Imammu nodded as his team followed his orders. 'Kelly, do you want to scare the prey from the eastern side? They should come towards me. Unless you want to stay here . . . ' His words drifted off as he began to change his mind. Imammu wasn't sure he wanted his mate to be in the action-thickest, most dangerous position of taking down the quarry.

I shivered madly in his hiding place. He thought about the times when he used to live with his leader, Lagiza. Lagiza would know what to do now, wouldn't he?

Wouldn't he?

I pushed more sand over his head and closed his eyes, but he quickly opened them again, remembering the danger of sleeping under sand. Rest will just have to wait for the moment.

A brown bird zipped down from the sky, landing neatly on Chri's head.

Chriki froze looking up at the bird who had landed on her "who are you ?" she asked genuinely curious as to who this bird was

The bird giggled. 'Can't tell you, hehe. But who are you?'

"My name is chriki my cousin is the mate of obbler's granddaughter kati yaki" chriki said a sense of confusion coming over her as she looked up at the bird

"I can do that my love." Kelly nodded and began to move slowly seeing the expression on his face. After giving him a quick nuzzle, she ran towards her position, silently, making sure to keep her paws silent

'Well, hello,' said the bird, doing a shuffling dance a'top Chriki's head.

Imammu huffed a sigh, glad everything was going smoothly so far. He crouched down, waiting for the others to head the prey towards him . . .

Mahiri crawled out from under the rock and began shoving some stones into a neat line.

''What do you suggest we do with him, Jot?,'' asked Wavivu, in a hushed voice.

Jot narrowed his eyes, admiring how neatly Mahiri the rogue arranged the stones.

'Well . . . he's a bit . . . funny. But pretty harmless, if you ask me, so long as he doesn't scare off any more prey, eh?' He scratched his mane tuft, still separated down the middle into two . . .

Suddenly distracted, Jot wondered what his tufts made him look like. Noticing that the sun shone full on his face he turned around to inspect his shadow, thrown onto a large boulder. He chuckled - his shadow looked like a cat's, with bigger-than-average ears. Maybe more like a serval.

He struck a pose and took on a proud, imposing voice. 'Greetings, 'tis I!'

There came a cry, more like a screech three metres away from Jot and the sand shook and shivered.
I couldn't control himself. Peering from his sand hide-out he caught sight of the dreaded silhouette of Lagiza.

And more, he was being called. He had distinctly heard his name and it made his heart thud like thunder.

Jot started, his head whipping around to find what had uttered the eerie sound. 'Wha-! What was that?' He got up, fur all a quiver, and crazily wondering. 'It . . . it . . . it . . . ?'
