We really like the Balto character and are pleased to know that there are people like you out there that are such big fans.

Some new press releases from Universal.
Warning, it's highly disgusting.
Quote: UNIVERSAL CITY, CA , June 20, 2006 -- A billion-dollar property that is considered the top animated children's DVD Premiere franchise of all time will soon make its television debut as Universal Studios Family Productions brings The Land Before Time to Cartoon Network in 2007. With more than 60 million video units sold in 17 years, The Land Before Time is a veritable home entertainment "dino-sty" with millions of family fans across the globe. As the popular brand transitions to television, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group will look to support the move with a merchandising program that will capitalize on the size and scope of this launch. With a strong foundation of more than 25 partners worldwide in various categories including publishing, interactive and toys already in place, Universal is actively pursuing new partners to expand its program at Licensing International 2006.
Licensing opportunities are now available across all categories including toys, apparel, accessories, interactive games, collectibles, fine art, home furnishings, health and beauty aids, food and beverages, gifts, stationery products and wireless communication devices and accessories.
"Dinosaurs have always been a popular play pattern, and The Land Before Time, with its history of success, is the authentic dinosaur property," said Beth Goss, executive vice president, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "The DVD Premiere franchise has built awareness with moms who perceive the brand as safe with good values and great stories, and the new animated television series will bring a fresh, creative approach to this proven brand, allowing for an expansion of our consumer products line."
The television series will include many of the franchise's most memorable characters - Litttlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike and Chomper - along with new prehistoric pals in all-new adventures. Stripping five days a week, 26 episodes will bring the richly animated prehistoric world to more than 88 million homes in the United States. The series is currently being sold to international distributors.
In addition to the television series, two new DVD Premiere titles are slated to release in the next 24 months, and Cartoon Network episodes will be available on DVD starting in 2007.
About The Land Before Time A billion-dollar property, which boasts 11 valued installments over a 17-year period, The Land Before Time is considered the most successful feature-length children's home entertainment franchise of all time, having sold more than 60 million units worldwide.
Set in prehistoric times, the series follows the journeys of young dinosaurs who experience wondrous adventures, encounter challenging obstacles and learn memorable life lessons about love, trust, friendship, learning, caring and sharing. The cast of dinosaur characters includes Littlefoot, the lovable long neck Apatosaurus; Cera, the feisty three-horn Triceratops; Ducky, the naive duckbill swimmer Parasaurolophus; Petrie, the comic flyer Pterodactyl; Chomper, the newly hatched friendly fearless Tyrannosauraus; and Spike the ravenous spiketail Stegosaurus. Quote: UNIVERSAL CITY, CA , June 20, 2006 -- A critically acclaimed theatrical release with a total domestic box office grossing nearly $60 million thus far, four movie tie-in titles on USA Today's Best Selling Book List and strong sales across all product categories, have bolstered the merchandising program behind the original "monkey see, monkey do" chimp - Curious George. The merchandising program continues to gain momentum as it swings into the fall season with the release of the theatrical DVD and a new television series debuting on PBS KIDS this Labor Day, September 4, 2006. Fans can look forward to new Curious George toys, apparel, books, accessories and more in the coming year with additional film product hitting shelves in fall 2006 and television product that focuses on education to mirror the sentiment of the animated series debuting in early 2007.
"The Curious George program has been extremely successful for us so far, and it's still early in its life on shelves," said Beth Goss, executive vice president, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "Curious George is one of those characters that has cross-generational appeal for all consumers whether they are grandparents, parents or children. We're looking forward to extending our program and supporting the television series with education-based products that will encourage children to investigate and discover just like Curious George while introducing the basics of math, science and engineering."
Consumers have gone bananas over the Curious George merchandising program, which is backed by more than 100 licensees and promotional partners worldwide. After success with movie-based products, many licensees have remained on board to support the property through the television series.
Leading the way is master toy partner Marvel Toys with an expanded product line that will include traditional preschool learning toys, bath toys, feature plush and new assortments of the collectible Bean Bag Pals. From its movie line, the top-performing Bean Bag Pals (SRP $5.99) and Tickle 'n' Giggle plush (SRP: $19.99) will continue to appear on shelves at mass-market retailers such as Target, Toys "R" Us and Wal-Mart throughout the year.
Curious George publisher Houghton Mifflin is creating a new line of seven television tie-in books to include early readers, picture books, board books and a slide-and-peek book hitting shelves in January 2007. The first in a series of television tie-in books, additional titles will be released in spring and fall 2007. These editions will add to the consumer support of Houghton Mifflin's movie tie-in books exemplified by Curious George: The Movie reaching No. 3 on The New York Times Best Seller List of Children's Books.
New wireless partner Gosub 60 will begin releasing Curious George interactive and mobile applications in fall 2006 that will spark curiosity and educate young children while allowing them to follow along in the monkey's (mis-)adventures.
Apparel continues with brisk sales at Wal-Mart, Target, Toys "R" Us and many other retailers across the nation. Apparel currently available for the program includes: Fruit of the Loom (undergarments), Kids' Headquarters (sets & separates for newborn, infant and toddler), NTD Apparel (girls t-shirts and fashion tops) and Wormser Company (children's sleepwear). All licensees are returning with new product to support the television series.
In partnership with Minnesota Children's Museum, one of the premier U.S. children's museums, Universal will offer children, their parents and grandparents the opportunity to enter into a series of Curious George environments and engage in his mischievous life and adventures. Two Curious George themed touring exhibits will teach children and families to learn and play together by building, creating, counting and problem solving - similar to the science, math and engineering lessons taught by the PBS KIDS television series. The exhibits are expected to open and tour beginning in 2007.
Adding to the wide variety of merchandise, Universal Home Entertainment has a "barrel full" of DVDs lined up for the coming year. First is the much-anticipated theatrical DVD release this fall. Following this release, Universal will round out its Curious George library by offering two new DVD's containing episodes from the television series each quarter in 2007 and one original full-length adventure each year.
This time, Balto is dead...

that unfortunatelly is probably true. There's way too much other stuff they can do now to make money. Balto probably is and probably was in the back of their minds now if not totally forgotten

If I didn't have better sense, then I'd go to the nearest Best Buy and buy out every single Balto 3 DVD they have. I'm not doing that because (I might go off topic, but) I'm paying for the gas on my car that gets 18MPG. Oh well, at least I'm getting one of them when I can.
