Scotty continued to write: Okay, okay. I understand, Cole. He handed him the note pad then looked back at the guitarist.

Scotty watched the band playing a slow song, he knew the tune but couldn't remember the words. He glanced at Cole out of the corner of his eye then began thinking. Just remembering things, like how they would stay up all night attempting to get the perfect lyrics to a song, or how they'd save up money for guitar pics and CD's. He zoned back to earth and listened to the band some more.

Cole tried to shut out the sound of the band, it bugged him. So, he stood and took off his shirt, and walked down to the water, and begn wading in. The water was cool, but not cold, just like it always was in the spring. He sighed and went under, letting the water engulf him completley.

Scotty watched him, he didn't care much for water. He wasn't afraid of it he just didn't like it. Water was the unknown, Scotty hated things he couldn't understand.

Cole ran his hands through his hair, and grabbed at the sand, desperatly trying to stay under. His lungs yearned for air and something was going off in his brain, a pain signal. His heart rate grew weaker, and he intook a large gulp of water trying to get air. Cole still stayed under though, thinking about one thing: His voice.

Scotty watched the water, Where's Cole? he thought standing up. He squinted his eyes adjusting to the dim light. All he could see was the waves pulling at the shore. Scotty began to panic and he approached the water.

"Cole!" Scotty shouted racing off toward the water. He went splashing into the tide until the water came up to his waist "Cole!" he shouted again when a wave came and knocked him down pulling him under, but the young anthro was easily able to resurface.

Scotty turned his head as another wave crashed into him, he saw Cole on the beach and sighed with relief. He wadded back to the shore, his clothes clung to his soaking wet frame as he fell to his knees with exhaustion.

Scotty read the note and shook his head to dry his hair some "It's...okay, Cole!" he panted standing up.

Scotty's ears lowered, he wasn't sure how to reply, he didn't know he was Cole's only friend, and he had never seen the scars on his arm before. He brushed his wet hair out of his eyes and dusted the sand off his clothes. "Cole it's fine..." he doubted his words, he couldn't live with out Cole he was his best friend.
