Vulpix was filled with such confidence at its completed and successful attack that it didn't have time to dodge its opponent's next moves. She felt backwards with the hits of both poison sting and scratch.She barely managed to get up. Travis almost panicked. The reason he didn't was because he knew that Devin was his friend. It wasn't like this was going to become a raging battle or anything too serious. After all, they were just leveling up, trying it out, having fun. "Vulpix, are you okay?" He asked.

Vulpix gave a weak nod. After two failed attempts at getting up, she finally managed to steady herself and stand. Though her legs were almost ready to give way. Suddenly, Vulpix seemed determined again. She quickly turned to Trav and called, 'Vul, vulpix, vul!' She even jumped once or twice in an excited form. Trav was a bit confused what she meant. "What is it?"

Vulpix moved from one place to another in almost lightning speed. "Woah! Is that quick attack?" Vulpix nodded. "I thought you only..." Vulpix nodded again. "You leveled up?" Vulpix smiled in the only way a pokemon could. Trav felt renewed. "You think you could try it out?" 'Vul!' Vulpix made a mad dash for Sandshrew, and while it took an amazingly huge effort not to trip or stagger, she kept going. Keeping this much effort into preparation of the move, though, could only mean that the real thing may not be as effective as it could be.

Surprised by this sudden take of speed, Sandshrew was soon knocked back by the attack. "Sandshrew, are you okay?!" Devin asked, concerned. Sandshrew gave a small nod as it struggled to straighten up. "Sandshrew, use Poison Sting again!"

Trav wasn't sure what to do. Surely, both their pokemon were tired out as heck. "He vulpix, you have it in you for another quick attack?" Vulpix looked back, surprised again. Did her trainer want her to quick attack straight against the poison sting? She nodded, though, and did as she was told. She used quick attack, running quickly against the wind. As she knew would happen, she ran straight into the poison sting. Though, because of the momentum of the attack and her legs, she wasn't able to stop now. Just before she knocked into Sandshrew, Trav said, "Now stop and use ember!"

Vulpix, now slightly understanding Trav's battle style in progress, did as she was told. Another flame of fire was outspread from her jaws. But she was tired out beyond belief. She lied down just in front of Sandsrew. She didn't bother to move, advance, dodge, or anything.

The quick attack missed, but the ember hit. Too tired to retaliate, the exhausted Pokemon sat down beside Vulpix. "I guess it's a tie, huh?" Devin said, glancing up at Trav.

Charlie stood.
"That. Was. Awesome." He said, walking over to his two best friends.

"Yeah, it was!" Devin said enthusiastically. She flashed a wide grin at Trav, then rushed to her Pokemon. "Sandshrew, you did great!" she praied, giving it a big hug.

"Sandshrew, shrew," it said tiredly. Pulling out its Pokeball, Devin said, "You go ahead and take a long rest. You deserve it." With that, Sandshrew disappeared into it's Pokeball.

"I guess it is," said Trav with a smile. He walked towards Vulpix and began petting her gently. "You did amazing, Vulpix. Awesome job!" He laughed, hoping to give Vulpix some more confidence that she did awesome like he said. Vulpix grinned through a tired expression and puffed, 'Vul, vul.' Trav rummaged through his belt for his pokeball, the first one he ever used, and whipped it out. Clicking the center, a red glow appeared, strengthening around Vulpix and eventually transferring her inside.

He put the pokeball back in his belt and stood up. He ran over to his friends and said, "Wow, that was insane!" He gave a huge grin.

"Yeah, it was!" Devin agreed. [b]"You did great, Trav,"[/b she complimented.

"As did you," replied Trav as he swerved his hand, bowed humbly, peeked with one eye, and ended up laughing in hysterics. When he was done he said, "No, but seriously, that was awesome. And you did awesome!" He said. Looking around, though, he found he was excited for what was to come. "What do we do now?" He asked.

Charlie had already returned Pikachu to it's Pokeball.
"..I..dunno," he shrugged.
