Skull smiled at his friend Rowan as the dark colored german shepherd gazed at Nisha with a longing glint in his eyes.Soon he looked away, now anger replaced the loving look as he watched Rowan walked off.

Rowan's smooth coat looked dark under the moo-lit sky as he walked into his den, away from Nisha."I can't do this.." He whispered, curling up in a large ball to where you could only see his back.His eye lids closed, the darkness swollowing him full and soon time seemed to not exist as he fell into sleep.'Rowan, I love you..' The familar voice rang in his ear, a white figure moved across his vision and soon the room became visable and familar, the tile walls and flooring, the dark silver metal cages, and the men in blue."It was all juts a dream, I'm not in Leathal, I'm still here." He whimpered as he felt a tug on his black leather leash as his handeler, Mike, pulled him forward."C'mon Rowan, you and Lexie will be working together today." His tail wagged at the name "And she didn't..go!" A beautiful white german shepherd trotted out, her body was fully white other than her black bangs and black paws."Hey Rowan, ready to go out?I heard there is this guy who has a dog fighting ring, oo how i want to get my paws on that creep!" Rowan laughed warmly and nuzzled his friend "I missed you." He whispered, she laughed "I was only gone for a few minutes Rowan." He laughed along and Mike put them into the car.The world passed them by through a glass window, but he didn't care where they went, just that he was with her.The two sat down in the car as they watched Mike get out an dknock on the door where loud barking could be heard.The man stepped out, and Rowan took a ragged breath in "Lexie!Run!" He yelled loudly, his back flenching as he pawed open the door "Please..Lexie, just run!" Lexie looked at him oddly "No, what if Mike needs us?" Rowan snarled slightly "What if I need you?" Her eyes went big in shock then soft "I know Rowan..but this is my job, our job." Rowan growled, then a gun shot split the air in half and soon the white dog was gone.He ran through the house, blood was everywhere, dogs were clawing and biting and even lunging at him, but luckily he dodged them.He knew where they where and who these og's were, he knew all of their names.He ran through the kitchen and saw the white german Shepher."Lexie no!" Soon a tug on his tail jerked him back and he was quickley slung into a cage."Lexie!Get out!" His friend stared at hm, trying to figure out what to do.But soon she was over at the cage, clawing at the lock but it wouldn't budge "Forget about me Lexie, just save yourself!" But it was too late, a man grabbed her and threw her into a cage also.


Rowan awoke, sweat beads going don his neck, his eyes were wide in horror at the memory."Lexie..." He whispered faintly.

Talon stood up and the sound of Nika's paw steps, he was used to picking out the small sounds of certain things. He stood up and walked out of the crate. "What is it Nika?"

Nisha say Rowan walk into his den, she shrugged and yawned. She was tired from her long journey. "Night guys." she shook out her black fur and went to lay down in her den, she yawned again and rested her head on her paws, her tail pressed to her side as she fell asleep almost instantly.

Nika looked down at her paws in shame, how could her foster parents do something like this?"I-I...Its was nothing, just the humans." Walking forward she let her tail hang low at the thought of lying to Talon.
[One year later, the pups have all finished their training and Nika's foster parents still haven't followed through with their plans of tearing down the pack to its core.So Nika has completley forgotten it and left in behind her past, the pups are fully grown and became very close friends, this is the time when Nika becomes leader.]

Nika walked through the crowd, their eyes full of excitment and joy.Her voice was cheered all around her "Nika!Your going to be great!" She nodded sheepishly and walked on, her face full of fear of messing up the pack and worry."Um thanks.." She could only reply.She soon made her way to the large pile of crates where the leaders stood."Nika, you were meant to be the leader by the age of one." His voice rose over the pack "And now it is time." Skull smiled and she jumped on the crates gracfully.

Nisha smiled and looked up at Nika "YOUR GUNNA BE GREAT NIKA!" She threw back her head into a howl, and started to chant her name. "Nika! Nika! Nika! Nika!" Her tail wagged back and forth as she thought about Nika's mother, and her friend, Tomoyo. She would have been so happy to see her daughter take the lead of her pack. She smiled up at the now grown pup that was like family to her and she could almost imagine Tomoyo sitting next to her and looking up at Nika as well.

Talon sat at the back of the group, a small smirk betraying his cold act. He heard his old mentor howl and he threw his head back as well, letting a howl out from his blue/silver furred muzzle. He ended the howl, the smirk a little bigger then before as he looked at Nika. She grew up well, even with those abusive parents... thoughts ran through his head and his smirk faded. She is now the leader. He got up and turned, walking down the ally he looked into a puddle, the scar running across his face and over his eye reminding him just how much had changed.

Nika smiled warmly, a hush went over the crowd as she cleared her throat."My mother, Tomoyo, was a leader.But not just a leader, she was one of the greats, one of the best leaders any canine has ever seen." She looked around the crowd and they were nodding "And it wasn't just my mother who had chosen me for the important role as leader, it was the ones above us." She explained calmly "And now, mother and every canine that has ever lost his or her life runs along with her." A streak of bright green ran across the sky "She is proud of her pack, and of her friends for raising the stupid and ignorant pup I was." She laughed and as did the pack "And for raising the pack just like she would have done if she was still here, but I promise that I will lead our pack into victory when we go against any foe, I promise I will protect this pack with my heart and soul." The pack went into a howl and she joined in along with them.She searched the crowd for Talon but couldn't find him.She walked off the pile of crates and Skull took over "Inow resign from my duty and give it to Nika, this celabration is over." His voice rang over the crowd as they scattered and talked amongst themselves.

Nika ran through the crowd as she searched for her friend "Talon!" She could catch his gray pelt anywhere.She bursted through the crowd, bumping and pushing through the bodies of fur.Soon she rolled out from the crowd and fell into him, her face was full of anger."Talon, why did you leave?You were suppose to be there for me!" Looking at him her face softened, she knew she could never be mad at him for to long.

Talon turned after feeling Nika collied with him, his ice blue eyes quickly hid the hurt that he was feeling. He straightend up and looked down at his leader. "Congratulations Nika, and I was there...i just left a little early....cause I...." he trailed off and then started again. "Your the leader now, and things have changed." he bowed his head respectivly and walked past her, his tail brushing against her flank as he walked over to Nisha. "Nisha, can i talk with you?"

Nisha turned. "Sure, what is it Talon?"
Talon hesitated and then pulled her off to the side. "Things are going to be different now..."
"Oh stop it Talon, Nika is still Nika."
"But she is now our alpha."
"Talon...if it really makes you wounder why not talk to her yourself?"
"Because if I do I know I'll only seem harsh and rude."
Nisha sighed. "Because you dont know how to deal with your emotions yet. Now go."

Talon nodded and walked away from Nisha, he looked around and layed under the tree he had first layed under when he had came into the pack, and when he heard Nika promise him that she would be his friend and everything was going to be ok.

Nika looked at him, hurt and emotional pain filled her eyes to the brim and tears began to flow.Talon was her closest friend in the whole pack, and now was the time she would need him most and he knew that, didn't he?Taking a shaky step forward she felt like she was crippled and stiff, she was in shock."T-Talon..." She whispered as she finnaly managed to walk forward."Best friends forever..but maybe he lied.." Tears flowed down her face as she felt her heart tense up and she laid down."I've seen love die, way to many times, when it deserved to be alive." Resting her head down on her paws, she took a deep and ragged breath in as she saw him sitting by the tree.The tree.Walking forward she finally made it to where she was a foot away from him, the farthest she had ever been from him it seemed."I-I..I don't care if I'm a exile or Alpha...I'm your best friend rather you like it or not, nothing an change that..nothing." Her voice was ragged and weak, and tears still trickled down her black and gray cheeks.

Talon hadn't even relized how fast he had moved, suddenly he was next to Nika, pressing his shoulder to hers and gently getting rid of her tears with his muzzle. "Nika...i was worried that you wouldnt even want to talk to me. That's all. Now that your alpha." after he said that he made his voice so quiet that only Nika could hear him. "I was....scared that you wouldnt want anything to do with me."

Nika took anothered breath in as she dug her face into his pelt as far and eep as she could manage."Talon..I would be nothing without you." She opened her eyes and all she could see was his familiar gray fur around her, and his sweet scent."I could never leave you." Stepping back a loud and thundering voice ashed over the peacful and sweet moment she was trying her best to soak in."Nika!You have duties!" Nodding, she looked at Talon, ashamed."I-I'll see you later.." Walking backwards she turned around and ran towards one of the pack members who had called for her.

Talon wanted to say something but was cut off by another pack member. He got an idea quickly and let his face fall back into the cold, emotionless look that he normally had. He used his hight and straightens up as he walks next to Nika, just a little bit behind her shoulder and takes on a postion of a body guard. He looked down at the new wolf. "I belive, as a new leader someone might try to oppose her leadership and try something. Our Aplha should not be without a guard, which of the role i take on myself." His voice was military like. "Unless of course you wish to put our Alpha's health, and life at risk."

Nika smiled at her friend's attitude "He is right Drake, I do need one and Talon is a fearless fighter, and strong at that." She strode forward "Nice." She giggled into his gray ear.

Talon's look didnt change, but the corner of his mouth twitched upward in a very small smirk, betraying his amusment like it always had. "Well for one it's true, and two it allows me to stay close to you." He kept his voice to were only Nika could hear him. He turned and snarled at a wolf that glared at Nika, or mabey him, he didnt care because that wolf was glaring at two people that Talon wouldnt allow to be glared at.

Nika laughed again as she walked forward.
