I looked at myself in the mirror. Even after seeing the changes once, I still started a little whenever I saw my reflection. With paler skin, long black hair - hip length, if you can believe it - and stunning amber eyes...I looked nothing like my former, rather bland, self. A fleeting thought entered my mind, enough to send a shiver down my spine. What if...no one recognizes us? I shivered again.

Unknowingly, I happened to be reading Alex's mind. That much was obvious from her expression when I voiced that terrifying thought.

"Hey...'Lex? What if...what if no one...recognizes us?"

"They will" I tried to assure her, But I was more trying to convince myself than anything.

I nodded, unconvinced. "Where should we look for Dad? I don't think I can stand looking in random rooms anymore. We may stumble on the mortuary." A shiver coursed down my spine at that thought, and I wrapped my pale arms around my chest reflexively. "Do you think we should ask an employee or something?"

"we-We have to" I stammered. I Took a deep bretah and walked out, Keeping my eyes closed for a second before opening them and looking btoh ways down the corridor.

Some random man dressed in a white coat -obviously a doctor- had been hurrying down the hallway. I turned to my sister, bronze eyes questioning. "Should we ask him?" At the sound of my voice, he seemed to walk faster. I frowned at him, wondering why.

I caught hold of his arm without answering my sister "Excuse me" I said in a hard tone.

He jumped, obviuosly startled. "Yes?" he asked abruptly - rudely by my opinion.

"We're looking for our dad," I said, my voice surprisingly quiet. Normally I would already be mad that he had replied to us like that.

"Try the front desk," he said shortly, yanking his arm out of Alex's grasp. He was soon gone, looking almost traumatized.

I looked at my sister, confused and now irritated. "Why did he act like that? You would think we had some incurable, contangious disease, or something."

Maybe we do I thought darkly, I sighed "Come On May, Lets go try the front desk"

I nodded. "Where's the elevator, though? Or even the stairs?" I asked. There were no signs to point us in the right direction, and I wasn't peeking in anymore doors.

"Err, This way" UI said, Deciding to make a descicion and stick with it I strode off down the hallway.

I knew she couldn't really know the way, but I followed Alex anyways. What else was I supposed to do, after all? Sit around and hope for the best. Yeah, right.

I kept walking and eventually hit a staircase. After alot of flapping to top myself falling I padded down. Still with no Idea where to go.

I couldn't help but laugh a little at the sight of Alex, arms pinwheeling wildly to keep herself from falling. She didn't act like she noticed, and I followed her down the staircase, wincing every time my feet his the metal surface. Though I wasn't wearing the heavy soles of my tennis shoes or boots, they still clanged loudly.

As I walked down the stairs I listened to my Footfalls, That was weird, they seemed lighter than before. And I could have swoen I was holding my back stright, not my usual slouch.

When we finally reached the bottom, I gestured for my sister to open the door. "Go on Alex, hurry up. I want to find Dad."
