True, but at least she doesn't have to worry about that anymore.

Yeah, I like her just fine. I've always liked her. I have a thing for "second generation" characters and Aleu...well, you know, Balto's daughter. XD
Yes, she can be whiny and obnoxious, but hey, as far as I've assumed, she's the equivalent of a preteen/early teen girl. It's not necessarily rare for them to by whiny and obnoxious at that stage. Something tells me she'll grow out of it at one point, though perhaps that's just me.
And besides, think about it. For her whole life she's been wanting to be adopted, to be like the rest of her siblings, to be like a normal dog. But one day, she finds out that boom, she's part wolf and the only one who "looks it", according to Balto. And of course, we all know how much humans would just loooooove to have wolf as a pet. (Sarcasm intended, and before anyone says "oh, but I WOULD love a wolf as a pet!", remember I'm talking about THEM, people in Nome in around the 1920s-1930s, NOT YOU. They weren't exactly wolf obsessives like we have around today.)
Back on point, so finding out she's part wolf and "looks it" pretty much shatters her dreams of becoming adopted and living a life like her siblings.
But of course, when she runs off and learns with Muru and Nava's pack, she realizes that being wolf and having a different future may not be a bad thing. She realizes, with a slowly growing level of maturity, that it's not her heritage that matters, it's HER, and she's becoming ready to accept that "destiny", if you will.
No, Aleu's not perfect. She has many flaws, indeed. But she's still young, still growing and changing, and if you ask me, she's on the path to being a good leader. Not there yet, no, but with time and with help, I think she's got great potential.
...Yes, I like Aleu. XD

...Yes, I like Aleu. XD Absolutely sums up my thoughts to a tee, I have always thought that just ONE film was never gonna be enough to develop her persona quite enough to be believable for many people. so this is a very valid and quite excellent post..

I also think that it's hilarious when she corrects someone's grammar.

TBH I'm not too keen on the grammar thing, but Natti is right. She had spent her entire life thinking she was normal, only to have everything she knew turned upside-down. You saw how much she tried to be adopted, you saw the love and longing in her eyes--all she wanted was to have a life like her siblings. (I think she even did a handstand in one shot?) To restate a point I made in another topic, the way I see it is that many of the personality "issues" Aleu has were caused--at least in part--by a case of self-denial. How many people here would just keep living normally after they found out that everything they believed was true was all a lie. It's the reason movies use the 'You were adopted' bombshell to turn characters away from their parents. The character becomes angry at their parents for keeping secrets from them for their entire life. In Aleu's case, it was the same thing, just with the opposite bombshell: 'You weren't adopted because of your heritage.'

HAHAHA
Now I remember! That's actually pretty impressive especially for a puppy. She would have had a home with me (that is if she doesn't tear up the furniture).

I've always loved Aleu's character (personality as well as appearance), and I would have been the first one to adopt her had I been there to do so. And yes, it is pretty impressive for a pup. (But then again, this is Aleu we're talking about, and she's awesome!)
