So what I need you to do is pretend like I never existed...can you do that for me?" Dev asked, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "I want you to know...that I'd rather die than without living a lifetime without having met you..."

Dev wanted to tell her that there was a slim chance that he would live but he knew that would crush Shay, and seeing her be crushed would probably crush Dev too. "I promise that I will try with all my power to stay alive...and come back to you..." Dev swallowed the lump in his throat and hoped that Shay wouldn't start crying, because then he probably would start crying too. "I'll miss you Shay...more than anything. I love you."

Dev returned the kiss willingly wrapping his arms more tightly around her. "I love you.." he whispered, starting to pull away slightly, not wanting to leave but knowing that he had to.

Dev didn't let go of her hand though. Instead he held on and reeled her in for one more long kiss. He had to end it though, pulling away gently and walked backwards, Dev never broke eye contact with her. "I love you..." he said, before their hands sperated and the lump in his throat seemed to grow ten times bigger.

Dev whinced and said "I love you! I love you Shay!" he said, walking backwards, before he turned around and sprinted away. He hated just leaving her like that but there was no way that she would ever see this side of him. He felt like killing something but he knew that that would just make things worse. As soon as he was out of sight he slowed down, put his hands behind his head and screamed, sinking to his knees, his head in his hands.

Dev stood up, silent tears illuminated on his cheeks as he approached a nearby tree. He reeled back his fist and his the tree with all his force, breaking it like a toothpick. Splinters shattered everywhere, splintering into his skin as a shower of leaves fell around him like rain. He looked at his fist, confused at first at how oddly crooked it looked, but he couldn't tell that much becuse a think layer of crimson liquid covered most of the grotesque look.
