This is the one time you will hear me apologizing for my rudeness, so savor it. Anyway, "heavy" music isn't defined by how loud it is. Music can be heavy or even disturbing emotionally too. Go listen to Alice in Chains' "Dirt" album to see what I mean.

Why thank you. And fine, I will give them a fair chance and since you recomend them for "emotionally disturbing" I say go look at some of the stuff on AFI's "Sing the Sorrow" and "DECEMBERUNDERGROUND" albums.

As I've said before, I don't really think AFI are a bad band. I think that they are a somewhat decent band that sold out. I would even go as far to say that I like some of their earlier material, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them disturbing. Alice in Chains' music carries a heavy emotional weight because the frontman was going through a horrible heroin addiction (which he eventually died from) at the time of recording and most of the lyrics focus on his suffering throughout those stages of his life. If you're a fan of Godsmack, you should know that they started out as an Alice in Chains tribute band and even got their name from one of their songs.

Okay, but I hate Godsmack -my sis, Shayde likes them. And what do you define as "sold out"? And if someone has trouble with a drug addiction it's that looser's own problem, he was the one stupid enough to think it's "cool" or whatever to do drugs.

There's one thing we have in common. I hate Godsmack too. Anyway, Layne didn't do drugs because it was "cool". He used them to escape depression, which ultimately lead him to even more. Most of Alice in Chains' music is about the shame, regret and helplessness he felt while realizing the consequences of his desire to escape his life's many overwhelming problems.
