I won't be watching the movie. Quite a lot of movies based on books have been awful, there have been really good ones (*coughlordoftheringscough*) but I really don't think Twilight will be "my cup of tea". I wasn't much impressed by the trailer and Edward already annoys me. >.>

I do however, move this topic to movies, seeing as this topic seems aimed more toward the film.

Lol I lied.

I just watched it and I was wrong, I love it and Edward doesn't annoy me anymore, I like him instead. XD

Goes to prove you really can't judge something before seeing it. Twilight is awesome. <3

Haha XD Good for you! At least you admitted your changed opinon ;) I've just come back from watching Twilight, and I too think it's great. I like the dark, romantic kind of feel you get from it...and the actor who plays Edward looks yummy as a vampire...even though i wished he would have done something more than just stare at her mysteriously just about all the time. Also, there were quite a few holes in the story...

Most of it was well-explained, but I still don't get why Edward cant read Bella's mind...I mean the film-makers go out of their way to make Bella seem "average". Also, I don't get the bit were they killed James...I mean they got him, he's alive and wrestling, and then in the foreground it shows Edward try to save Bella from becoming a vampire, and in the background they're making a fire and burning his body...I mean what the hell? It's all over in five minutes. All in a days work.....right. Just plain weird. And also, whats the point of saving Bella, when she then later wants to become a vampire? Gah..the more I dwell on the subject, the more flaws I find XO. But I loved the movie, it was brillaint and all my friends really enjoyed it...and we didnt scream like a bunch of silly little barbie girls, we were silent with awe nearly all the way through the movie, apart from eating crunchy popcorn XD

So I hope that when I get the book it'll fill in alll the holes in the movie plot...its what usually happens with movies made from books, we can all agree.

Apart from Lord of The Rings.....100% legendary XD

I know. I personally don't get why they would save her only to later have her want to be a vampire, and why Edward just doesn't make her a vampire so she won't be in danger.

Also, I totally agree on the books into movies thing. When I saw the Harry Potter books I thought that the movies would only make it better but was I wrong. I stopped watching those movies after number four when I just had enough. Now, I'm always cautious of movies made from books.

Yeh, I suppose, but maybe if she was a vampire, she'd loose her "speciality" to him, because she'll be just like the rest of them...I don't know! I'm filling in the holes again! NEED to buy the book and see if it answers my questions XD. Also yes she wouldn't be in danger, but I think it's cute how he protects her ^^..it's sweet. Even though its pointles if she actually WANTS to become a vampire...stupid idiot...:/ Oh yeah...I remember now....Edward tries to persuade her not to become like him, right at the end, when they're dancing.

Hehe, I know about the books/movies thing. As the Potter books went on, the writing became more intense and advanced...the films just couldn't keep up X/ So basically they jsut got worse and worse as the books became better and better...but I have watched all the HP films. I dunno, something inside me just says "Well perhaps they'll get it right this time" becasue to be honest, I'm quite optomistic XD but sadly they never get it to hit the spot....disappointing really, but alright if you're only looking for light entertainment. XD Actually, thinking about it, that's quite sad, because the books themselves are amazing. :(

At least there is one thing I can agree on with you all. Most movies made from books don't ever really do the books justice. As for Twilight (the movie) I though it was good, but there were definitely important details that I feel they left out. Some things that were added in, I feel should have been left out so that they could have inserted more things from the book.

the book was beautiful. I only literally just finished reading it a few minutes ago..and I just sat in silent awe for ages. The movie was grest, but yeah, its just a MOVIE...You dont get to know the characters as you do with the beautiful descriptions of the novel itself, seriously Icouldnt put the book down until I was finished with it. I too am in love with the romance of the story...its just amazing. HAVETOHAVETOHAVETO GET THE SECOND ONE!

And the book did answer alll the gaps in the movie, and so much more

Ya read the book so quickly. :o

I just don't see how Twilight is so different from all the other vampire books/series out there. It's very much like the Anne Rice vampire books and it's also like the show "True Blood". I guess there can only be so much variation between all the vampire series.

how can you even compare the Twilight series between Anne Rice and Sookie Stackhouse series? they're so different in both writing and the vamps are different too. and Bill doesn't stress to Sookie that 'he could easily kill her', which he could. he can hold himself back with out constantly reminding her. <--(said from shock not insult or anger cause from what i've read, they have many differences just on writing style alone.)

I just find that all vampire stories seem to have a few very important things in common like vampires that won't kill, or vampire-love(so annoying).

I've yet to find anything truly "unique" in a vampire story that hasn't already been exploited.

I guess I'm a quick reader if I like the book ...actually,I'm almost half way through the second one now.... and I remain neutral on the topic of vampires, becasue to be honest, Im not interested in them, so dont read vampire stories.

But Twilight has been described as "a vampire story for people who dont necessarily like vampires." - and it's true, because all in all, it's a love story <3. The thing that did peeve me off slightly was that the author didn't bother to research vampires AT ALL before commencing writing her book...hmm. Dodgey. Well, we all have our own different fantasy "versions" of the mythological creature called the vampire, and about them or the book, I'm not going to try and push my opinion on anyone else. There's no point.

The only thing I didn't like about Stephenie's version of the vampire is the glittering diamond skin. I mean...cmon! They REALLY looked soft then. He could have been slightly scarier than that.....but all in all, I stand faithfully by the book's side. ^^ Maybe I won't defend the movie so loyally, but that's because its the movies made from books thing again....

One thing I WILL point out though, and I apologise for the slightly venemous edge in my speech, but I can't think what has driven some people to hate the series/movie so much! I mean...for peat's sake...it's a MOVIE. You can't help if there are a vast majority who like it. I can understand your dislike, and I can even agree with you on some points, but really what's with all this wretched, burning hate? There's going to be lovers and haters of every movie that's slightly controversial. Since when did people get so passionate about things like this?? I don't mind people disliking Twilight, of course I don't. It's gonna happen. But a slight reproach to those who go around screaming "I HATE TWILIGHT! STUPIDEST FILM EVER, LOADA KRAPP! e.t.c." or in some sort of weird way of getting "revenge" draw cartoons or make videos in which slander off Twilight in the most offensive ways they can. (COUGH, COUGH! ) I mean....calm down!

There are much more worthwile causes to vent burning fury on in this world...inequality....bullying....injustice, all kinds of things...Instead of a movie. Same thing goes for Aleu "haters", even if this is off topic....

Phew. That's really ALL of my opinion. On EVERYTHING to do with this.... sorry for rambling.

I don't hate the book with firey passion; I just don't like quite a few small things in it and they all add up to me not exactly loving the series/book.

I didn't see the movie for two reasons:
1.)I didn't like the book
2.)books made from movies usually suck so I don't watch lots of those

When I read it, I quickly found myself cheering for the "bad" vampires hoping they would win because lets face it; they were so much cooler and bad a** then Edward. They were also much more "vampire-like".

I know its off topic but I'm not one of the "Aleu haters" I think the character was fine but I wish there were never any sequels made to the original film.

Right?! XD
it 'tis annoying indeed.

but when you give them a try, they arn't half bad.
not to mention when those we like, like the origional Anne Rice Vamps, are done and over with, we can only read the books several more times,
or watch the DVDs. but when something comes out like Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Angel (another A.R. vamp), you find them some how unique in their own way and
refreshing when we want to keep watching the good vamps. The Sookie Stackhouse series i'm just loving is mainly because of the Werewolves and Shifters, but the vamps are unique there too. Bill explains why he's more mellow than other vamps and that instincts can't be helped and sometimes...people just die O.o

but i must agree on one thing... vamp romances are boring and got old real fast... then again, i'm not big on romance in general.

Sparkling vampires playing baseball? OMG!?!?!

Bolt came out the same day as Twilight.

I saw the animated dog movie. It was probably better.

Thank you, IDanceOnthorns_x. I agree with what you said about hardcore Twilight-haters. Do they really think they're going to change our minds about the books & film by continuing to childishly bash them?? I mean come on.

And whitewolf17, he/she didn't mean you. Have you not seen how extreme Twilight-bashing gets, on sites like deviantART or YouTube? I mean ... it's okay they can hate the book. But do they really have to continue with such passionate hate with the people who love the books?? I think it hardly seems fair.

I respect your opinion. But some Twilight-haters take it too far.

But then again, so do some hardcore Twilight-lovers. I love Twilight, and I'm not ashamed to say it. The books captivated me, and the film just blew me away. I can't begin to say how much I'm in love with the series & film. But some Twilight-lovers take it too far aswell. xD it's a shame the Twilight fandom is destroying the series. But ... oh well. What're you gonna do?

i agree completely. i'm not big on Twilight at ALL. any chace i had at reading anymore was mostly destroyed by extreame twilight fans. >.<
i wouldn't mind reading the rest of the series, or even watching the movie(s), but it's all i hear about! D:
everywhere i go it's 'Twilight this...' and 'Twilight that...'
i don't consider myself an extreme Twilight-hater, just Twilight-annoyed :(

and yeah, it is bad on Deviant... O.x
both ways.
