oh ok, thanks for clearly that up UK. but baltorocks, if Wolf.250 if an admin on the FRENCH forums, most likely they can't speak english, or they woulda been added as admin to the english version becuase it definately more demanding than the french version forums.

Well, no need to highlight 'FRENCH' because his username DOSE come up on the English site saff list, so I was guessing he was an Admin on the English site aswel...

The only other admin is Wolf.250 on the French side, the staff list on the main site is way more reliable. ;]

Or maybe he just cant be botherd to take him off the staff list on the forums. But still, I feel tha Steet should elect another English administrator, because to me, I feel he is finding managing the English site on his own is a bit of a handful.

We ALREADY removed the inactive mods one or two months ago. I did it by refering to the other mods and by checking the mods logs. Some mods may not be very active (they don't show up on forums, site etc...) BUT they are doing their job.
I still think the best option would be to allow submitted fanarts, fanfics etc... to be validated straight away (without being checked) if the member is a trusted member (if the member has sent 50 fanarts and always have been validated, why should the mods bother to look at their new drawings when there is a 99% probability it will be accepted? And at the very least, the "report to a mod" option is there for a reason)

Still, mostly, if the mod is not active, how could they be doing there job? But, I agree with you on the sent fan arts/fics Exc... But are you going to take Zakee_US off the forum staff list?

Baltorocks, if Steet feels confident that though a said mod is not active but is in fact doing their job, then that's what he feels. Besides, he keeps records.

In fact, steet is here on an occasional basis (by his own admission in other areas), not always able to keep up with those records. Togo and Mastermind, on the other hand, are. I would be interested to see what they had to say...if they will say it forthrightly.

Furthermore, none of this invalidates the perceptions of other members. Or the experiences they have had (good OR bad). Even someone as meticulous as Mastermind, or even Togo, can conceivably miss something which has great import to a member, in what clearly MUST be pages upon pages of records (since we already know that everything a member or staffer does, apparently, is logged).

This still does not diminish MY concerns. And I have already asked the senior staffers to look into them (*ahem*).

Yes, Steet is on here on occasion, which is good for all of us. You would be interested to see what the logs say? Hmm, now that's interesting. But, I really don't believe Togo or Mastermind (even though Mastermind is not an admin mod) would say unless they had good reason. I'd say more on that but I'd rather hold my tongue. We all miss something sometime. You know that as do I. Mistakes are just the way of the world and there is no such thing as perfection. Well, actually there is, but again I will hold my tongue.

I understand your 'concerns' but really, let this go.

I think it's more a problem of the fact that there are long periods without any moderators, due to a MIXED issue with either not enough moderators or inactive mods. Both need to be solved to step forward.

Okay, have it your way then, but... it's a lost cause. Mods can't always be at your call.

I have to side with UK...Why are you putting it in such a negative light? I mean, I'd understand you saying that having absolutely no problems with the site ever is a lost cause...But I think if there's something missing\wrong with the staff members it should\can be fixed.

I mean afterall...What's the point of having mods if they don't do their jobs properly, don't do their jobs period or if there just simply aren't enough mods? There would be no point. Which is why members and staff should try to fix these problems as best as they can.

I did not in any way say that an efficient moderation team was a lost cause. What I am saying is that we have more than enough moderators on site and in the assigned sections. Those who are unable to come on probably have other things to do and are unable to inform the other mods, including the webmaster himself.

They can't always inform the others of every little thing that keeps them away from the site. A notice beforehand is one thing. Life always intereferes in our online lives. That's just the way it is. Instead of complaining about their not being enough moderators on the site and chewing the inactive mods out is wrong on so many levels.

Bottomline, be glad that there are mods on this site who do their jobs as best as they can. Count your blessings, each and every one of them.

Disagree with me all you want, but that's how I feel. And, on a note, Steet addressed this topic, giving his own words on the 'situation'. I am pleased that the members are concerned about the welfare of the site, but really guys and gals, this is getting a little out of hand, at least to me.

The webmaster has given his opinion. Really, shouldn't that be enough?

Now there is only 1 way I feel I can answer this, a plain simple 1 worded answer:

No!

I'll tell you why:

Because in my mind I do feel Steet knows himself there are inactive mods on the site, he did it two months ago... Too me, that is a long time seeing how meany inactive mods there are... Now, lets refer to DTW{AB} He hasn't logged on since 18th June, that to me is very well inactive. Togo, hasn't logged on (Last time I checked last night) since the third, this too me, feels real inactivity from the Moderators of Balto Source.

===============================================================================================

Going off the subject:

Guys, you know we where talking about Zekee_US well... Yesterday, I saw him logged on, I was just like 'That cant be him!'. But he was only online for like 2 minutes, just to say.

And your real point is what exactly? Here's my answer: This whole topic has gotten off track. Steet does know that there are 'inactive' mods but is it really his fault? How many times to any of us have to say until you get it into your heads that the mods have lives and those that are inactive for months at a time probably have their reasons? Do not bash them because of it or ridicule Steet for not doing something about it in the time that you feel he should.

That's not right nor is it fair. Now when you say that DTW{AB} hasn't logged in for a while, I think its because there's a reason and that he/she is unable to get onto a computer.

Ever think about that? You may think its inactivity, but there could be something else, like a loss of interest or something such as that?

Togo is on as often as he can be but he is not always on the ShoutBox. He has other things to do I'm sure, not to mention he's an administrator. He has other things to worry about that what goes on in the SB. He helps Steet manage this site just as much as the rest of us.

But, bottomline is, he does come around as do the rest of the mods when we can but we can't that does not give you right to call inactivity.

Okay, I've said enough.
