Well, apparently the creators of Balto 3 thought Stella was kid-friendly enough

Steet even said himself, content no "worse" than what was in the movies is acceptable. Its in the movies after all  G-rated movies, mind you. "General Audiences" is the rating the Rating Board gave, did it not?

Just the same, let me be the one to bring p the official rating system. Again.

Motion Picture Association of America wrote:
A G-rated motion picture contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that, in the view of the Rating Board, would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture. The G rating is not a “certificate of approval,” nor does it signify a “children’s” motion picture. Some snippets of language may go beyond polite conversation but they are common everyday expressions. No stronger words are present in G-rated motion pictures. Depictions of violence are minimal. No nudity, sex scenes or drug use are present in the motion picture.

So it was on the brink of PG. But still G.

(A little history lesson? Don Bluth wanted Charlie, from All Dogs Go To Heaven, to have a conversation with the Devil, who I believe was supposed to be that dragon thing you only but saw and wondered about in the movie. But the MPAA said they would yank the G rating and make it PG if he did that. Back then, PG was aimed more towards what we now consider "PG-13." I don't recall what the MPAA said about that kind of evil being in movies back then, but it was apparently huge enough to affect the rating of the movie.)

Motion Picture Association of America wrote:
A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision.

The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture.

So basically, as long as drugs aren't in use, its considered PG. Still for kids, nowadays.

I don't know who can go around saying whats for kids and what isn't for kids XD The opinion is all different. Not even parents can really argue with a website if it goes by the Rating Board. At that point, they'll have to take it up with the RB themselves. None of you arguing are parents, so... Less right? Probably. Maybe you should have kids and see what really influences them badly, then you can tell us all yourselves.

And for kicks and giggles, here's whats PG-13.

Motion Picture Association of America wrote:
A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. The Rating Board nevertheless may rate such a motion picture PG-13 if, based on a special vote by a two-thirds majority, the Raters feel that most American parents would believe that a PG-13 rating is appropriate because of the context or manner in which the words are used or because the use of those words in the motion picture is inconspicuous.

Summary? Since I know most of you didn't even bother to read that, it basically said if any "bad" words are used angrily, as opposed to them being said casually (PG example: "Charlie went to Hell." -- PG-13 example: "Go to hell, Charlie!!") makes it PG-13. Any drug use makes it PG-13. Any sex suggested or otherwise shown for an extended amount of time makes it PG-13. Only noticeably gory/violent scenes make it PG-13.

Explaining R-ratings would carry this on pointlessly, so there you have it XD Balto 3 was rated G. Anything themed similarly to any content in the movie is considered appropriate for people of all ages.

*stands up and applauds* Thank you.

Besides, not all G-rated films are squeaky-clean. Heck, one of my favorite films, "The Secret of NIMH", had a violent sword-fight (with blood and death in the end) and a swear (dam . . . if you get my drift.), yet it still maintains a G rating. "The Great Mouse Detective" (another one of my faves) has a scene that's . . . *cough* rather suggestive (trust me, if you've seen the film, you know which scene I'm talking about!), yet that, too, maintains a G rating.

We should all just take chill pills (although some others on this site need to make sure they don't choke on them as they take 'em . . .) and just leave this subject alone. I'm pissed off by this sudden outcry of censorship from something that's totally out of our control, okay?

JUST STOP. Please.

Oh yes  They had their chance to change the rating when they released the Special Edition DVD (or re-released it onto DVD, whichever) And you mean this scene, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2IctxaCPqw Oh yeah. Thats subtle. I didn't notice a thing when I was watching this as a kid

Cat: I used to watch The Great Mouse Detective all the time when I was kid and I never noticed that one scene either. I never paid attention to any 'suggestive stuff'. Alright, so when it comes to Disney films, the people can't always stay 'kid friendly' there has to be some adult content when them at some point right? I mean come on no one stays a kid forever. We all grow up.

As someone once said, 'When I was a child, I thought as a child, I played as a child, but when I became an adult I had to join the world of adults'

What Cat & BW said is totally true.

I don't see the huge deal in showing a kid a bit of 'adult' content. If they see a film with a swear and they start saying it; the parent will teach them not to; and usually they won't. If a kid who doesn't know anything about 'the birds and bees' sees a bit of suggestive content (The Great Mouse Detective - perfect example) then they won't usually understand what the hell's going on. Why the male residents of the bar act the way they do. While older kids, teenagers and adults will understand perfectly. And even someone who commented on the vid said "This never made me want to go to a seedy bar and dance on stage while throwing my clothes off and singing". It's not exactly what they said; but atleast it's a basic idea. ;D

Denmark are a brave country. They're not afraid to put adult content in films directed at children. And I love them cuz of this. :D .... that's probably why most of the Danes are perverts. LOL.

Actually old Disney movies weren't aimed directly at children, when Snowhite was released it is said that they asked Walt that wasn't the movie to dark for the youger children, and he said something like "Who says this movie was aimed just for young children" that the movie was more for people who enjoyed the art of animation and more aimed to the entire family, that fact that colorful cartoons and fairytales attract children doesn't mean it's aimed at them.

Most old disney (and Don Bluth) movies such as "Great Mouse detective", "Secret of NIMH" , the Lion King, may attract children, as most Disney movies do, but that doesn't mean they are aimed JUST for children , adults have the right to enjoy them as well.

Oh and actually the cartoon Super Robot Monkey Team or SRMTHG for short, is a DISNEY cartoon that is aimed (contradict to popular belief) at preteens rather that kids rated PG or Y-7 whatever, and there's some innuendo and h*rny quote kids below 10 may not understand.http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=L7y5_80sBKM

Cartoons aren't always aimed at a young children, so stop being so inmature just because a female goose did something suggestive, Balto 3 was aimed by the WHOLE family, not for JUST children, (adults deserve fun too XD).

Yes, we love Denmark (*nudge-nudge-wink*). And only we know why.

But getting back to the subject, I agree with Rebel-chan. A lot of cartoons have those slight moments that only the grown-ups would understand (slight . . . *cough* inappropriate situations and such, as well as violence and blood), because without it, adults would be bored to death.

For example: Why else do they only market the Barbie movies - which are quite squeaky-clean and have no violence/sex/adult content in general - to young kids? And yet, I hear about many younger members on this site bashing those films, yet we want a wholesome site that may bore those that hate already good, clean fun? What the heck. Good point, yes?

And no offense, I like both the occasional good rated-G humor as well, but get a freakin' grip. It's not like we can please everyone, darn it.

(*nudge-nidge wink-wink* indeed ;D) hehehe. <3

Thanks for the agreement Juu-Juu. I knew I could rely on you. xD And once again; I totally agree. Without just a little bit of risque content in films; older viewers would indeed be bored to death. G-humour is always enjoyable when used correctly. But jeez ... it gets so boring; and often becomes overused. Take the classic fart joke for example. I know I'm not the only person who's totally sick and tired of this.

Me & my group of friends at school are in a 11-17 age range, and it's almost always adult content that's used in our jokes and whatnot. And we always always get a laugh out of it. Of course I'm a little biased since I'm a teenager. But like I've already said; this doesn't mean I don't enjoy G-humour. As long as it's not used stupidly and in an overused fashion; it'll amuse me, and I'll enjoy it. ^___^ I am a big kid at heart.

Too many G-rated films are overly fluffy and happy and kid-friendly these days. Am I the only person tired of this? Kids' films used to be alot more risque (yes; that word again. What can I say?? I love it!) but now they're just ... too kid-friendly. Mostly because Americans are so overly-protective. I'm not being racist or anything like that. I'm just saying that no matter what America says; not all kids films should be totally kid-friendly. I've already used Denmark as an example. What about Germany? Anyone here ever seen the film Felidae? AMAZING realistic film about a cat murder mystery; with violence, blood, guts, bad language, heavy innuendo, sex etc. ... and when this was released in Germany; it was a kid's film. But was made an adult film when dubbed in English. I am NOT saying America should start making kids' films that involve all of this; so don't say I am. -.- I'm just respecting the risk-taking countries and their risk-taking.

Cheers for listening.

Well said in both posts Rebel. So, is there any way we can put this matter to rest now? Everyone has their own opinion but that is true but this is reality here folks. There is no such thing as 'kid friendly'. If there were, the world would be 'purified' in all ways possible. We'd be robots who would never know free will or right from wrong. That would really stink.

With all due respect, ma'am, steet has explicitly said otherwise. Even a cursory glance at the rules will prove that.

Your due respect is noted DT. Yes, the rules maintain to keep this site kid friendly but outside, in the real world, away from this site and in other places on the internet, there is no such thing as kid friendly. No site is ‘pure’
