When it comes to fictional characters lets face it the bad guys are always the best, as an actor thery're more fun to play and when it comes to a lot of writers they're more fun to write. When it comes to heros I prefer hero's with flaws as I feel they're much more interesting, the problem with Balto as a character is that he's just too nice.

I guess some people just are attracted to villains.

If Steele was real, I probably wouldn't like him to be honest. But the fact is, he's a fictional character. And as a character in a movie he's entertaining and expressive, which I think is awesome!

As a character I kind of like Steele, and seriously without him being in the film there would have been less conflict, and that conflict is what makes a story or film interesting. Think about it, if Balto had no rival what fun would that be. I have to agree with what Slayguy86 wrote about characters not having flaws. Without flaws characters become to unrealistic and perfect. Well that's my .02 cents.

Maybe it is because they find Steel funny somehow. Some people find villains funny on how they act.

Maybe I'm just too darn serious, but I don't see Steele as especially funny. There's not much humor, at least not in my book, in basically sentencing every kid in town to a slow and painful death just to boost your ego and get a girl who's clearly not interested. I mean, that violates two out of three of the key things I stand for.
In short, Steele is a great villain. But if he tries out for comedy, I'm bringing some veggies. Nice, smelly, squishy ones.

People like villains and they like personalties that villains have sometimes. Some villains are quite good at what they are and this leads to people liking them. For example I like Cruella Deevil(sp?) just for her nutcase and determined personalty. She is not some kind of uber all knowing evil spirit who will devour all. She is a selfish, mean, two faced witch who wants a furcoat of spots and wont take no for an asnwer. As such its fun to watch her and she makes a good source of conflict. I think for many who like Steele, thats the same. They like either his personalty or what type of villain he is and enjoy watching him. He was far the best villain out of the three Balto films. I doubt many people would Steele is someone was like him in real life (or god forbid, a real dog was like him) yet in the world of fiction people enjoy watching his ways and others.

Steele seems kinda cute and ambitious..... I feel bad for him 'cause he just can't seem to help himself.

Geez, DT, look at the whole picture for a change xD Every kid laughed with Steele when he said to Balto, "I've got a message for your mother: AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

It was hysterical. He often had the greatest facial expressions too. His calling Balto "Bingo" got quite a few chuckles in as well. And his icy appearance when he got back from Nome and he had the icicles all over his face...nearly taking out the dogs with those same icicles.

The bad guys also get the best/funniest lines in movies too.

Well just because he was mean doesn't mean he's that bad. Remember: he did learn his lesson at the end of the first movie. . I have to say: he is a little harsh!

Actually, I think the only reason I like Steele is because he's the perfect bad guy for Balto, ^^". Here we have this big ego, selfish, smooth talking leader for a villain and an unsure, unselfish, good-hearted outcast for a hero. Two complete opposites that instantly cause rough friction whenever they are near each other. I think the only thing that the two might share is desire, however, the desire themselves are completely opposite as well, XD.

I don't know, I love Balto with all my heart, but I don't think I could go without saying thanks to Steele for a part of it. Steele makes Balto, erm, Balto for some points, XP.

All in all, I like Steele because he's a big part to Balto's character.
