Yeah... but I am afraid there aren't many people who can compose like Dan and so on. This isn't drawing. This isn't writing.

I know restrictions are needed...

Well: What about the people who actually do appreciate professional musicians and the music they play, and the music that is used in films? Personally, I think the rules are fine: I would really hate to see this part of the site overrun with things like rock, and genres that do not belong. I mean, if someone is looking at the music section and saying, "Well, I can't post my rock music, so it's junk," you are dead wrong. Dan may be the only person on here at the time, but I know a few people who would love this section, other than myself, if it were kept to classical/orchestral music... the "One man show" thing just isn't right... if people cannot compose music, can't they at least enjoy it, and realize what the real musicians and composers do? Rock and all that is not the only thing in the world... Professional orchestras and musicians get WAY to little recognition: And I know the feeling, I am a classical music student, and I have met many people, some quite famous, some not... and I know the road, the story... classical music is highly important, and I am not denying you think so, but I really do, in the long run of all the words I could post, think it should stay the way it is, with Steet's exceptions.

I study classical music too, play several instruments and so on, but composing like Dan is something I just can't do. Yes, about recognition you are absolutely right. It's easier to get recognition IRL as musician than on the net. It sounds really weird, but that's ther truth. And second... nowadays a lot of people make music. Quality varies, but music was... well let's say 'degraded' to item of a daily consumption. The only music I accept is classical and Irish. Today popular music is somthing terrible. And that's whay I don't listen to it

Well, that was little off-topic. yeah... you are right, at least it seems so. Well, I think the only thing I can do is get software (Finale 2005 is not much xD) and try to do something. Well... yesh...

Yay, I ditto you!!!! I have a version of Finale... it's cheapy, though, it was the free download/trial version, but I still love it, I'll be working with that.

I couldn't agree more with this.
For example, it's especially annoying to see that for example, in video games, people are stuck on the graphics side and actually don't care when they buy a game to know if the music is good or not.
I'm doing the opposite, I always put music BEFORE graphics...I could play an horrible game with good music, but never the opposite.

Well that's a bit the same thing for films. The actors and directors get all the recognition, but very few people care about the soundtracks makers; they just don't know that a good soundtrack can make ALL the difference...

Righto... hopefully this fan music section will be used to benefit them, and their music. I am sure that people will learn much from it, even people who do not care for classical/orchestral type music... they will learn a lot, I know they will, this music section will be an ear-opener for everyone.

Still I think the best music is music without scores... like jam sessions. I was out for a weekend and me and my friends jammed in celtic style. amazing... :D

Well... can't wait to hear your songs!

I feel stupid, and probably sound the same... but what's a jam session? I cannot imagine the word "Jamming" with Celtic music!  Celtic music is the Irich-type style music, right? Like... jigs?
