And now, just wonder why mate talks aren't allowed anymore.

XDDD Steet, maybe you should make the rules box below the Shoutbox bigger, 'cause it isn't grabbing a lot of people's attention -_-

Hehe... To think that a few years ago the mate stuff was quite stable and plenty of the people role playing who had mates had a greater rp where the mate and pup part was part of it not the other way around...

Quite enjoyed those roleplays.

I don't flame ALL the people who have mates out there since there are cases that there's quality rp... But it's sad to see that plenty don't get what quality roleplay is. Then all the talk is EXTREMELY annoying.

I remember when the mate box was made... That was only taking into account the "mate noob rpers" and just made a big line. All those warnings and fights. Hehe that wasn't even successful and finally all mate talk banned. Only for the best though. And I'm not complaining...

I could make them fill the entire page that it wouldn't make any difference.
But I am going to make this clear : I won't allow anymore mate talks on the whole site. This is not something that we should see on a site for everyone.

Don't get rid of mates completely. The sweet ones, example:

Jarinae: Hi Yuyu!
Yute86: Hi Jari *tacklehugs and kisses on cheek*

...should stay. People can whine if they want but there's nothing dirty about them. However, the more... let's say, 'involved' ones that prefer to do the deed and run off to another mate and whine about puppies should go. I mean, okay, if it was *planned* between all of the RPers in tht roleplay that one character would run off and find another mate, that's fine, it was planned, but it's not good if they go on and on and on about it. Personally, the more graphic RPers are strange strange people. They can take it to the PMs or MSN if they must, just not in the RPBox.

I don't mind mate's talks, but rules are rules. And I don't think "mates" could be very kid-friendly in ANY way, as it referrs to many other things than just loving each others.

I agree that this topic should be locked. I also agree that mate's talks is annoying, when people seemingly doesn't understand the meaning of "rules".
So, lock this topic, but I agree (mostly) with you, Outlaw.

Mate talk is forbidden, unfornutly this is a subject that we are going to have to keep enforcing to the highest forms we can. It is a problem, we are well aware. If you see ANY mate talking, please PM a moderator. Also we ask that all 'mate talk' in profiles be removed and if you are being bothered my mate talk via private message please ask the person kindly to stop and if they refuse you may contact a moderator or simply block the member.

Last time I checked this was my topic, and I do not see any reason why it should be locked. There is no flame war, and it is a pretty clean discussion. There is no reason for it to be locked, so lets keep it that way. Unless a flame war breaks out, then I would like to keep it open.

If I remember correctly, that post was posted on August, 18th. I think I've changed my opinions since then, am I not mistaken?

Anyways, on the topic of locking this topic; people should just respect the rules and not do mates talks at all. Making these rants is a bit unnecessary, because since when we mods straightened ourselves up, and became more strict on this, mates talking in public, at least, has fallen down to almost zero. Personally, I am striking down on anything which has the potential to turn into that, and so does all the other moderators.
I can assure you this is taken VERY seriously. However, making these kinds of threads somehow encourages mates talks, because, as Rozalyn explained in an earlier post;
Quote:
Ok, I agree with you about the luvvy dovey talk, that is really irritating, and oddly enough, these people have probably never even once seen each other. But after taking a site age poll to the site, I think I have an understanding as to why that "mate" thing goes on.

For one thing, although this is a kids site, the poll I did shows that more than Half of the people here are at least teen, and many here (which I find this a bit odd) are over 18. I saw a few people in thier 20's. So why does this matter? because that means that there are a heavy number of, older kids, who are probably single, trying to find affection around here.

This "mate" thing would appeal to many teens, because of all the benefits they feel come with the mate power.

1. they don't have to commit to each other
2. many don't have to feel real affection to thier partner
3. the few that do commit probably never had a boy/girlfriend before
4. they feel that they are attractive for playing this way
5. they get an ego boost from it (which explains the love talk, they WANT you to know about it)

To me, the whole "mate" thing is not about love, so much as it is about status. These people want power, at least that's what I see. To me it's not much different than that "power syndrome" we see from most members. I'll give you an example:

1. people who complain about not getting credit ( fanfics, fanart, ect.)
2. people who flame
3. people who verbally attack other members for no reason
4. people who steal

When you are giving them attention, you are doing what they want. The best would be to ignore it, and report it as soon as possible, and don't give the mates talkers any attention at all. We mods will just ban them.

Oh gawd... all I have to say on this is the following:

For this site, just forget the mate junk. Ok, it's not for real, and if you want to be in a relationship, try to know some real girls/boys, you know? I mean, relationships online are fine, but don't make them that intimate...

I mean, hugging and cuddling is fine (as long as that's the only thing happening), kissing is getting close to the borderline, but not quite, and anything more than that is out-of-bounds. I think you should also forget the pups stuff, because to be honest, who said you had to? I think that pups are borderline in the terms of mate talk.

Like it was said before me, if you want to do the whole mating thing, then go to some website (I can't think of any offhand right now) that allows it! This site is not one of those sites. I mean, you can have friends, but try to keep it to just friends, OK?
