I'd stick to the original japanese voices. Unless you occassionally like dubs. I think Eds voice sounds so wrong.

I disagree. Ed's Japanese voice is only appropriate for him in the episodes where he's between the ages of 6 and 12, because of how young/feminine the voice sounds. Those episodes take up less than 1/5 of the series, and in all other episodes, he's 15-16, and then 18 in the movie. His dub voice fits perfectly for a teenager, and honestly, I don't think the same can be said for the Japanese. Most of the other characters shouldn't cause much dispute, because they basically sound the same, but in my personal opinion, I prefer Al's English VOICE, but the Japanese is slightly better on the actual acting half. But if you're easily annoyed by extremely high pitched, squeaky voices, I'd still lean towards the dub. Exactly the same thing can be said for Winry.
And myFork, the following video may be useful for providing a comparison between the Japanese and English voices of four of the main characters: Ed, Al, Mustang, and Hughes. Don't worry, this video contains no spoilers.

P.S. I apologize if I ever came off as rude while stating my point. I just have an unfortunately low tolerance for (in my personal opinion) closed-minded statements such as all-out dub hatred. I would carry on about MY opinion on fansubs and the arguments that their loyal fans present, but doing so would go against some very good advice that Vic Mignogna(my favorite voice actor) gave at a convention.

I think his voice being to high for his age adds character. Afterall he's very...midgety. That's why I think his Dub voice sounds so wrong. To me, he's not meant to sound like the average american guy nextdoor because that's not who he is.
The main reason I don't like Dubs either is because of poor, bland acting and the way new voices change part of who the character is.

I think the english and japanese version are both good. The voice of Ed in japanese fits his er...midgety stature.XD And the english one fits his age more. But either way, I still love him!XD

Hey, did anyone hear that the FMA movie played in theaters last night? My friend and I went, and it was AWESOME! We found another little group of fans in the lobby and pretty much became instant friends(we had never met them before because the theater was about 25 miles from where I live), and we fangirled over Ed, hated on Envy, and provided an amusing little commentary throughout the movie, which was fine because we were the only ones in the theater. We stayed after the credits to watch a little featurette that shows after the movie, which was a long interview with the cast of the English dub. That included "The Donut Story", the story of Aaron(Al) getting stuck in the booth, Scott's(Hohenheim's) randomly goofing around, and Chuck(Shou Tucker) talking about transmuting his deceased pets and his kids. Fun times.
