Kodi smiled at the memory. "Yeah, they were pretty adorable. But at least you got to see them before they got fully out of puppyhood."
"I wonder what Dad would have said if we had told him the truth about where we're going," Maria thought aloud.

The blanket had fallen off Ana a little a she shivered on her sisters back.

"Almost one now," Kodi said. "There were born a month after Dad's birthday. Hey, do you think you'd be able to stay for it? Or come back? Ana and Maria would really love that."
Maria nodded. "Do you think that Dad is scared of meeting his father and thats why he's never gone looking before."
Rose stopped to turned her head and pull the blanket back over Ana. She licked Ana's ear before walking again.

" I could probably come back, I can't be away from the pack for a month." said Aleu. "They need me and...I'm actuelly hoping to have some pups of my own soon."

"I don't think it occured to him." said Miki. "Dad might not of known he'd come from Nome, dad wasn't born here so he probably didn't think his dad was from here ether."

Aleu nodded. "The other females said the same thing." she said. "I'm just nervious, which is reasonable."
"Me too." said Miki. "Hey did you hear that Kodi had a run in with a skunk this morning?" she asked, trying to get to a lighter subject. The pups had already had their first skunking.

"Don't worry," Kodi said, nuzzling Aleu. "I doubt it will happen. And even if it does, you're always welcome to bring the pup here. Maybe they'll be more husky than wolf. At least they'll be with family here."
Maria said. "It happened one time and they never let you forget it," she mumbled to herself, but loud enough for Miki to hear.

Kodi smiled, glad that he could make his sister feel better. He looked ahead and realized they were a few feet from the city. "Hey, guys!" he said. Everyone was so into their own conversation that no one has noticed where they were. "We're here!"
"Well, I don't like it," Maria huffed. She looked up at Kodi and then at the city. Maria laughed and jumped around Miki's legs in excitement. She ran over to Rose. "Ana!" she called, jumping up and down. "We're here, Ana. Wake up!"
Rose nudged Ana with her muzzle. "Come on, sleepy head," she said.
