"Yeah, sure," Biddy said to Asher, feeling the tension in the air and not liking it much.

"I showed you my interesting place yesterday," Victor said.

"It doesn't really matter to me. What do you normally do?" Biddy said.

"Well, what are you in the mood to do?" Victor asked.

"Then the cafeteria sound just fine to me," Biddy said with a sweet smile.

Victor smiled down at her. "I'm really not the great of a person," he said.

Biddy smiled back at Asher as she followed him.

"I'd watch what you say. You might not always feel the same way," Victor said with a smirk that contradicting his serious tone.

Biddy heard Zane mutter under his breath, but couldn't tell what he had said. "Is something wrong?" she asked him.

"You never know," Victor said with a shrug.

"You're a terrible liar," Biddy told him.

"For now," Victor said with a smirk.

"Just wait," Biddy said in a very irritated tone as she stopped in the middle of the now empty hallway. "What is wrong with the two of you? Why does it seem that you hate each other? You guys are brothers, you should be able to get along!"

Victor avoided looking Shay directly in the eyes as he said, "I have a past, just like most people. It's just that I have done some things I am not proud of and I'm sure you wouldn't be so fond of either if I told you."

Biddy sighed and rolled her eyes at the two of them glaring at each other. "But why can't you two just try to get along? What makes you guys so different, anyways?"

Victor calmed down at the warm touch of Shay's hands on his face. He willed himself to believe that her words were true before reaching up to take her hands into his own and lower them. "Don't make promises you can't keep," he told her, looking directly into her eyes.
