Russet shook his head. "Not when they told me to leave. I couldn't then. But the first few times I came back, of course. Now.... could I please talk to her?" he asked, soflty.

Russet grinned a bit. He nodded, just happy he could talk to Delilah. He padded in quietly. "Delilah?" he asked, smiling with the shock of saying her name, more now than ever.

Russet looked around and saw her sleeping. Instead of waking her, he went next to her and slept by her side. He watched her face carefully, looking for any signs of her waking.

Russet's head raised as he felt a movement near him. He looked up and noticed Delilah move closer to him. He pressed his mouth to her ear and whispered, "Delilah?"

Russet's eyes widened. "Are you okay? You seem a bit.... wound up." A bit, more like a lot, he thought.

Russet hesitated. His expression was hard, not the very kind face it normally was around Delilah.

"At first I thought it was because of the guilt of leaving in the first place, but there always seems to be this other reason, strange and mysterious, that pushed me to come back. Then I thought it was because I knew you couldn't handle pups by yourself when they came. But that wasn't it, either. I don't know. Maybe it just has to do with these strange hillucinations I've been having." He shrugged.

Russet sighed. "I kept seeing you, Julius. It was like hell.... being tortured like that. I..... also had a dream -- nightmare, where I died and you were there crying next to my limp body. Then that part blurred and I was taken to hell, my hell, where I kept hearing mocking laughter, that I think was Julius, as I fell.
