Biddy concentrated on her note-taking through she was thinking of anything but the words she was jotting down.

"Do you have anywhere you'd like to go?" Victor asked Shay as soon as they were off school property.

Biddy glanced at Zane once, but noticed him also glancing at her. She glued her eyes to her notes and rufused to look back up.

"How about we wonder around town until we something we like," Victor suggested.

Biddy stared blankly at the board, the lesson not absorbing into her mind at all. Finally the bell rang and Biddy sighed with relief as she gathered her books and headed for the classroom door.

Victor smiled at Shay and slowed to a walk as they entered the busy small town. "See anything you like?" he asked her, still not letting go of her hand.

"Yeah, barely," Biddy said with a forced smile.

Victor glanced down at Shay when their shoulders touched and smiled at her.

Biddy shrugged at Zane. "It was nothing, really," she said, trying to convince him that everything was alright.

Victor's smile widened when Shay returned his smile, then he returned his gaze to the little shops they were passing.

Biddy sighed. "Oh, it was just... um...," she started to say but stopped when she noticed Asher coming towards them.

Victor couldn't help the feeling of pride filling his chest as Shay laid her head on his shoulder.

Biddy smiled back at Asher. "Oh, it was fine. Some old history," she answered him with a shrug. She glanced between Asher and Zane, feeling the tension between them, but trying not to bring attention to it.

"I've been in this town for years. I know all these stores like the back of my hand," Victor said with a smile. "Is there anything I can give you a tour of?"
