"Thank you. That'd make me feel safer." She admitted.

Atticus nodded and wrapped his arms around her again then he kissed her forehead. "Do you think you can sleep now?" he asked.

"I'll try." Heather said in a low voice, before closing her eyes.

Atticus nodded and sighed, still holding her close he also closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep.

Heahter's dreams were haunted by those pair of black eyes.

She ran, a vortex of purple and green pulling her back, blackness surrounded her. Heather's lungs ached and her tongue was dry, she had foregotten what she had been running from. The girl stopped and looked back, realizing it was Tommy who'd been chasing her as she located his figure closing the space between them.

He clashed into her and they landed to the ground with a thud, Heather whacked her head on the ground and moaned. Tommy smiled and ran his hands along her neck and torso, "What's wrong darlin'?" He asked in his toxic voice. Heather tried to spring up and hit him, but her arms wouldn't move. Tommy's black eyes looked her u; and down, then rushed towards her, consuming her in a black haze...

Heather shot up, screaming at the top of her lungs. "Don't touch me!" She yelled, her dream burned in her mind and those black eyes scarring beneath her eyelids. Heather hadn't realized she was screaming until she forced her mouth closed. She brought her knees to her chest and panted heavily, a cold sweat swimming around her cheeks.

Scout, who was sleeping on the foot of the bed yelped with fear, and scrambled down beneath the bed.

Atticus's eyes shot open and he jumped, he sat up and looked at her wildly "Hey, hey hey! Heather! Whoa relax, what happened?!" he asked grabbing her and pulling her against his chest, hugging her tightly.

"I-I had a bad dream...F*ck...It was so real..." Heather said through a shiver. Tears spilt down her cheeks and she tried to controll her breathing.

"Hey hey it's alright... it's okay, it was just a dream. No matter how real it seemed it's not, yer' here with me... I gotcha yer' safe..." he assured still hugging her, but her wiped some tears from her cheek, with his thumb.

"J-Just a dream.." She convinced herself, nodding as she felt her stomach clench, "Just a dream..." She repeated, her voice low.

Atticus just sat there, holding her close. Scout's whimper, made him glance up, to see the dog peering over the bed... to see if the incident was over. Atticus kissed Heather's head "Yeah... it was just a dream..." he tried to help her, convince herself. Scout jumped slowly up onto the bed again, and settled down at the foot of the bed.

Heather shivered at his voice, and snuggled herself against him.

Atticus remembered that his parents had always sung to the kids when they had nightmares... but Atticus thought he couldn't sing... he thought he sounded like a dying cat when he sang. In truth he could sing but didn't, so he started humming the song "I'm Already There" [http://www.elyrics.net/inc/vidplay.php lol this song is playing on my radio XD], while he held her closely, after she had snuggled against him.

Heather's breathing slowed down a great deal. She listened to the rummbling of his hum and felt herself become more and more tired with each passing moment.

((lol I know, but it makes me sleepy so I figured he could start humming it XD))

Scout had already fallen asleep within a few minutes of Atticus's humming.

Atticus realized Heather was starting to calm down, after her breathing slowed to a more normal rate, so he continued to hum softly.

Heather finally gave way to sleep, this time she didn't dream, she just focused on Atticus's voice.
