Cobalt smiled and said "That's my boy. I actually learned all about this from my hybrid friend and he said that parents give off a particular smell which you don't smell unless it is a parent and then it goes away. I have no idea how it works, though. That was a mystery even to my friend. Come with me, Luke." He traveled to where he could sniff a parent and her kids and said "Now sniff, Luke. Tell me what you feel when you take a sniff of them. Is something different about the smell then regular deer?"

Cobalt nodded his head and said "You are to young then. Hunters and the hunted have a complex system of understanding each other and the monsters just ignore this system entirely. You will come to understand it when you are older. All creatures come to know this system some time in their life and that's why when our prey run and fight, they do it for a while and then they stop struggling because they know it's their time. This system is also a reason why hunters don't start eating or moving the carcass that they killed until a little while after it died so it's soul can go to a better place and not remain here in torment for the rest of eternity. So, let's go get that other deer." He walked back to where the other deer was at and asked "Do you know what to do?"
