Hmmmm. Well...I noticed it clearly. But, then again, I have the vid. maybe they haven't crrected all the bloopers. But how do I know

But the lip-syncing in Balto could've been much better

Yeah, perhaps they neatened the DVD up a little or something. I never had the video.

I thought some of the lip-syncing was terrible, especially with Jenna's lines

Like when she said:

"Um...Dixie what a pretty collar, is it new?"
"Sorry Steele, my girl is calling me"
"No, I'm glad you did"
"It's blocked. The Mountain Trail is dangerous but we can do it"
"I'm afraid it won't keep you very warm"

And most of Dixie's lines too

I own the dvd and the vhs. I'll turn in the dvd then the vhs and see. Because, when I looked at Balto on dvd- It was MUCH better (Also, Balto on DVD looks SO clear and 3dish kinda. o_o)

I think 2 had the best animation, because the background "Nature" parts were really detailed. Like when they cross the Ocean, really dark setting. I thought it was pretty neat. And when the seasons change instantly in Balto's Dreams, that was all good.

Well, the background art in all three was pretty intense, and they did a great job with it!

However, and not to argue, but "animation" refers more to the foreground action...the characters themselves, and how effectively they were drawn and then "brought to life".

I still think that the MAIN characters in 1 were drawn and animated excellently. And that the background characters were done HORRIBLY (as bad as anything animated in 2). I ALSO think that they did a great job of animating in 3, and I LIKE the way they drew Balto in that one. (Though I still like Boris, Jenna, Muk & Luk best the way they were drawn in 1. I like both versions of Balto, from 1 & 3, equally.)

Alrighty, my bad. Lol, I have no experience with animation, so I don't know what to call background. :)

I also think that bit with Star in the ice cave, in Balto 1, where he looks into the ice stalactite, sees a distorted reflection of himself as E.T., and says "oouuuch", was a cheap, stupid, irritating plug by Steven Spielberg (through his company, Amblimation, which later became Amblin Entertainment).

That had to be the stupidest, most gratuitously-shameful plug I've EVER witnessed...and even if it only lasted for a couple of seconds, it still took something away from the overall story. :x

Yeah, I can agree there. It was a pretty pathetic thing from E.T. Also, when Balto steers the sled into the Ice Cave, the avalanche collapsed in. Isn't that enough to make all the sickles fall from the roof?

Hmm. Hard to say...you're talking about a cavern buried in the side of a mountain. While the snow, from the avalanche, did enter the cave somewhat, it didn't fill it up by far.

Of course, I've never gone spelunking in an ice cave, and can't say I've ever had an experience ANYTHING like that (nor, I am certain, did almost anyone on the production team of the cartoon), so I won't hazard a real guess about what would really happen. I would imagine, either way, that it certainly would be a dangerous situation (as the scene at least implied).

I suppose it depends on how logically you wish to judge the movie. There are a lot of little faults like this one in it. But then, since Balto is a movie for kids, they wouldn't be likely to notice it.

They were probably too deep inside the ice cave for the avalanche to effect it. Besides if they did already fall, then how much fun would that be? Its much more fun watching intently to see if one of them's gonna get impaled.

But to stay on topic, the first one had the best animation, even for its time it did. The movement and all-round anatomy of the characters were spot on all the time (give or take a few frames, but even then its not very noticeable) Whereas in the sequels, holy crap, I dont even think the people who animated those movies BELIEVED in proper physical structure. But in the first movie, even the backgrounds characters were beautifully animated. I mean at least they DID stuff like they would realistically, unlike in the sequels where if they were in the background they'd just stand there in a daze like a goon. Yeah, so what if the huskies were designed abnormally fluffy? Its a cartoon, huskies are fluffy, which means certain noticeable characteristics will be exaggerated. Deal.

Ughhhh...I know. All the people looked horribly de-formed, and moved in the most unusual ways. It was freaky! *shudders*

Really? I thought it was quite funny. Obviously Stevie put that in.

How was it 'pathetic'?
