I think the author is talking about a Werewolf. But I really couldn't careless about why people write Wolf Hate peoms. And the author might have even liked wolves but decided to try something different.

well I love wolves I kinda hate how people gve them bad reps, actually one of the souces is Disney to blame as you see they always put the wolf in the bad guy section, I can't clearly remember a movie in which disney has a wolf as a good guy, and the wolf is always shown as the bad and stupid guy, grrr piss me off.

It's people with this cruelty to wolves or any other animal that I enjoy being unforgiving to.

Hearing the "Boy cried wolf" also giving Wolves a bad name, I hope to introduce a "Pup Cried Hunter" version.

The wolves in The Jungle Book,Balto,Nava,and Aleu,are ones that give them a good name,not a bad one.

This whole thing is ridiculous. I love wolves just as much as the next person and they happen to be my favorite animal but,this is a symbolism poem and its not that bad. When it says "look whose the big bad wolf now?" its almost taking the scare off of wolves and onto humans,which is where it belongs in my opinion. Hunters are sick people who use weapons to kill. I mean,at least animal hunters use their body,human hunting is extremely lame and wrong unless absolutely necessary in terms of starving in the wilderness. Anyways,this poem is so light,it shouldn't be taken seriously.

I dont know,but to me,this poem can be easily forgotten,I doubt itll effect a kid too much,but as for little red riding hood and stuff....well thats another story. Anyways,people can think they are evil,some people just don't like canines,and just the fact they are wild scares some people too,but you can't change society. Hunters will continue to hunt and people will believe what they want.....its our world,take or give. if everyone was supposed to love them,we would,but however we were put on this earth we were given free thoughts and charge of what we do. I think its cruel to be mad at the poet,who probably has nothing against wolves at all.

Assumptions get you into trouble,lets end it at that.

That poem is not about wolves, not about werewolves. It's about rapes. The wolf is a commonly used metaphor to talk about men and thei sexuality...

This makes me mad. I am part Cherikee and the Native Americans greatly revered the wolf, and I think they'd know things a lot better than us. I'm an animal lover by nature, I love all animals so this makes me angry. Humans keep trying to see nature as something that we must bend to our will but we'd never succeed, look at all theses native peoples, living with nature and doing fine. I'm certain that with our 'great' knowladge, we can find a way to live in tune with nature without wanting to kill everything we are afraid of.

Why wolves?

Heck, the only wolf good guys I know are in all-wolf kinds of movies.

So the wolf killed someone.

Spiders kill people. More than wolves.

Not even all that great a poem though, I must say. Rather badly written.

They are not always "evil", even in litterature. It all depends on which part of the human nature is being represented through the image of wolf. Sometimes it is freedom or hierarchy, sometimes it's crualty.
And that's the same for every kind of animal. But they are neither good nor evil, they just are, they know no moral, we know one.

Wolves had a bad reputation in Europe because, as many other animals, they have been infected with rabies and were dangerous because of that but also because they killed other animals like sheeps and humans needed them. We must realize that old times were not like nowadays at all, people were suffering and didn't have enough food, it's kind of normal that they thought wolves, foxes and other kind of wild animals were evil. The problem is, the image has been used in litterature, but it was not really to blame the animal, it was just an allegory based on common believes. And now, people still believe some carnivorous animals are evil... but most people don't.
It's kind of a mistake to think they are all good and all too.

By the way, in Little Red Riding Hood, they couldn't choose any other animal. The wolf is the symbol of men and their sexuality, the wolf doesn't eat the girl, he sleeps with her and she somehow isn't as innocent as people might think, especially in Perrault's version of the tale. They had to choose a carnivorous animal and an animal which could be encounter in European forest because the story is European, they also used common believes and all, but people were not as stupid as we may think, they knew it was a metaphor.

Why wolves ? Because a spider is not a good metaphor for sex and rape.


It's just an image, there's nothing wrong with it and no one is saying that wolves should die or that they are evil. Just because you like wolves doesn't mean you have to argue over the fact that some people use their image to make poem or tales in which they are evil, because it's just litterature.

Why?

This person is a very vruel and very ignorant person at that.

We've already destroyed the waya's(Cherokee for wolf) good name, we need to help them. I love being Cherokee, because I feel so more intuned with animals for some reason.

I'm not saying my heritage is the reason, but Native Americans are very partial to life.

Poor wolves...People are so ignorant. No one I know outside of this forum likes wolves.
