I like the name Steele. I especially like the way it is spelt.

OMG me too! ^^

And I think he's both. His mum; a Malamute. His dad; a Husky. People are very argumentive these days   xD

I don't really care. I love Steele, no matter what breed he is. And, as Starsky said, it's just an animated movie :D

He must be a husky because he has blue eyes. He thinks that he is all that because he is a purebreed dog. Malamutes do not have blue eyes. Therefore, he would have nothing to brag about.

Nope, actually it is possible for a malamute to have blue eyes. It is just undesirable and can result in disqualification from shows.

But they can have them.

THAAAANK you, Starsky! I mean, how many times must this fact be pointed out?!? WHERE do people get this notion that Alaskan Malamutes "can't" have blue eyes?!?!?! AAAAAH!!!!

I proved this point CONCLUSIVELY on this page of this topic: http://baltosource.timduru.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=9123&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15. (And incidentally, how is it a global forum mod didn't pick up on the fact that there is already a four-page topic about this? THIS topic has gone on for three pages already, about the very same thing! Usually the global forum mods are right on top of this. I realize that THIS topic is the earlier one, but it has seen much less activity than the other topic. If you ask me, THIS one should be locked.)

Yes, I thought I'd heard the same fact before, Sepalla.

It is a pretty pointless debate, as said, it is after all an animated movie. Does it honestly matter what breed Steele or any of the dogs are? This same topic has been brought up countless times before..

I so agree  As I said, I don't care what breed he is. I'll love him, no matter what Love.gif

It is a pretty pointless topic. Let's just say he's both or something and forget it   ^^

Ok, not that I want to bring this up again but I was reading my Balto Sticker Album (sad, I know) and on one of the first pages it clearly states that Steele is a purebred Husky. A championship husky.

Was the sticker album produced or officially-sanctioned by either Universal Studios or Amblimation/Amblin Entertainment? If not, then it is not considered "official".

I'm not sure what you mean.. it is a Merlin Sticker Album. But yeah, produced by Universal merchandising.

Hmm. Well, if they said that Steele is a Siberian Husky, then that settles it as far as what was in their minds when they created the character. In the end, I still believe it's up to the individual viewer's interpretation, because it was never actually said in the cartoon itself. That, actually, should be the bottom line.

Bottom line should be that it was an animated movie and we won't ever know Steele's excact breed.

Steele is a husky. Malamutes can't have blue eyes! ....

Nah, I always thought that he was a husky. Starsky saved the day with her Merlin Sticker Album. Well, Steele does look like a malamute... =P More of a size of a malamute, and stuff. Well, it doesn't really matter what breed he is. He is a sled dog, and can be a robot for all we know.

But yeah, just to let you know, I only said that malamutes can't have blue eyes just to be annoying.
